How They Met
Salome shares, “Christopher and me first met while attending UC Berkeley where we became best friends. Our relationship began with a trip to Lake Tahoe, where we foresaw a possible future together. Right after this trip, I left to study in Australia, leaving Christopher behind in the Bay Area. However, we successfully made our long-distance relationship work! Six years later Christopher proposed to me in the same spot where we took our first trip together as a couple. The beautiful Lake Tahoe has held a special significance throughout our entire relationship.”

Wedding Planning
Salome shares, “Hailing from different parts of California, we wanted to have a destination wedding where all our family and friends could celebrate! Lake Tahoe was the obvious choice since the location was extremely special to both of us, and we wanted to share the beauty of it with our guests. Additionally, the resort that we chose had a variety of cottages, rooms and suites which was perfect for our guests!”

On the shopping front, Salome did the majority of the shopping in Mumbai where the looks were carefully curated for each function. Planned by Denise Lilli Engagements and photographed by Lin & Jirsa Photography, the wedding went off smoothly!

Weddings Functions

Sangeet
Combining Christopher’s vision of a beer garden and Salome’s love for art, the Sangeet was a beautiful art-deco beer garden overlooking Lake Tahoe. Featuring huge trees that were swathed in crystals and rich jewel-toned decor, the ambience was deeply romantic. Accompanied by Garba the event that had everyone on their feet, one also witnessed a surprise performance by Christopher for his beautiful bride-to-be.

Wedding
A waterfront ceremony that took place surrounded by the beauty of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the wedding consisted of an acrylic mandap adorned with bloom and foliage. Circled by acrylic chairs that seated the guests it was a magical occasion with a chrome aisle mirroring the beauty of the cerulean sky. Arriving on a horse, Christopher greeted Salome’s parents at the entrance and followed the tradition of asking the bride’s family for their permission to marry Salome. Once the phere were done, the couple was flanked by their loved ones as they posed for their first picture as husband and wife.

Reception
Taking a cue from the traditional palaces of India, the reception featured a palatial structure that resembled a palace garden. On the entrance, a champagne wall greeted the guests guiding them to their seats which featured charts inscribed on scrolls. To mark the occasion, the couple enjoyed the traditional Kransekake, a Danish cake, and danced to the song that Christopher had serenaded Salome with on their first night together, eight years ago.

Advice for Couples
Salome shares, “If possible, invest in a great wedding planner! Our planner made our wedding process extremely smooth & enjoyable. It was most helpful to have a planner who could work with vendors to bring specific Indian traditions to life. Working with vendors who understood us, was such a joy!”
