Sima made a beautiful bride at her wedding to Peter, and credits the team of professionals for crafting her celebrations to perfection.
Fun, festive and with a royal theme running through, Sima and Peter’s nuptials in Jersey City were all the modern day fairytales you dream of. Here, Sima shares details of their memorable wedding as she credits her wedding planner Sonal Shah for bringing together the grand celebration.
How We Met
“I am an allergist and my husband is in finance at Deutsche Bank. We live in NYC. We met through mutual friends when I was in college and Peter was working at a bank in downtown Cleveland. It was at a rooftop lounge on one magical evening. I knew he was a genuine, sweet guy when he called me for the first time to ask me on a date. I said yes, and his very next question during that same phone call was if I wanted to also hang out for a second date later in the week. There were no games with him. I knew in that moment that he was very different from most guys. We looked into each other’s eyes that first night, locked hands and the rest was history.”
Wedding Venue
“My cousin got married at the Rockleigh Country Club many years ago. From that moment, I wanted to get married there myself one day because it is an absolutely gorgeous place with wonderful service. Years later, my brother got married at the same venue and it just made me surer of my decision to get married there. I knew I wanted a very elegant venue with European style, in New Jersey, close to all my family and friends.”
Wedding Functions
Mehndi and Sangeet
“We had a very intimate mehndi ceremony; a few of my closest cousins and girlfriends. I wanted it to be a very relaxed evening for the guests and it was. Next up, it was time for some fun at our glitzy sangeet night. The décor for this function incorporated jewel-tone and was very opulent. We enjoyed some lip-smacking Indian food and of course danced the night away!”
Hindu Wedding
“We wanted an elegant and romantic wedding day with European flair. The outdoor stone pillars and fountain provided the perfect backdrop for pictures. For the Hindu ceremony, I wanted light colors/beautiful back-lighting for a daytime ceremony.” Sima wore a gorgeous ivory and crimson lehenga, Peter looked royal in a matching sherwani.
Christian Wedding Ceremony
“For the Christian ceremony, I wanted an ethereal, almost heavenly feel. We had the ceremony outside in the gazebo, surrounded by large pillars in semi-circle with cherry blossom trees on either side. It was absolutely perfect.”
Reception
“For the reception, the endless chandeliers and marble dance floor of the Rockleigh brought the elegant vibe I’d always dreamed of. We needed minimal additions to the décor. The romantic ambience I wanted to create was done using crystals and candles around the room and floral arrangements in blush and ivory tones.”
Sima wore a gorgeous embellished lehenga in magenta and Peter looked dapper in all-black. The evening resonated with cheer, bonhomie and the laughter and love of the gorgeous couple and their family and friends.
