Timing is everything.
When their families considered introducing Supinder and Harman first, years ago, the bride believes it was divine providence that they weren’t. “When Harman and I talk about how we could have met earlier, we realize things may not have worked out. We were both away for college and had completely different mindsets at the time.” Once they did get talking, however, it didn’t take them long to make up for all the lost time. In a matter of a year, they were married!
The bride shares with us their story and the details from their wedding.
How We Met
“About 10 years ago, I played wing-woman for my cousin at a reception party. The girl he was interested in eventually became his wife. As it turned out, my sister-in-law had a distant cousin, Harman. His mother and sister had spotted me at her and my cousin’s wedding and were interested in setting us up. Unfortunately, things did not work and we were not introduced. Years later I spotted Harman at another family wedding and I remember thinking he was very cute, but nothing came of it.
We were formally introduced by my sister-in-law last year in January and the timing could not have been better. She told me that she had a guy in mind for me and if I were willing, she would send him my details and picture. At this point, we were both ready to settle down and we instantly hit it off. Three dates later he told me that I was the one he wanted to marry. Six months later we were engaged. Five months after we got married!
He is everything I was looking for in a life partner and vice versa and we could not be more excited to spend the rest our lives together.”

“We got married at the Gurdwara Sahib Modesto, CA and had our reception at the Grand Pavilion Banquet Hall in Sacramento, CA. We chose both the venues for their accessibility.”

Mehndi
“The mehndi was our first function. The décor palette comprised of bright colors – rich drapes in vibrant hues teamed with shimmering fabrics. The ambience was very lively. In line with the cheery vibe of the event, I wore an outfit in a happy yellow.”
Wedding
“Harman and I had a traditional anand karaj and wed as per the Sikh rites. The setup for the ceremony was minimalist; however, the banquet area featured pink, coral, ivory and gold in drapes and fresh flowers.
To the event, I wore a pink lehenga covered in golden floral motifs. He chose a beige sherwani paired with a pagdi in the same shade of pink as my outfit.”
Reception
“The reception was marked by elegant glamor. The décor featured muted pastels against shimmering golden drapes the beauty of which was heightened by floral arrangements and the warm glow of the chandeliers. Since subdued colors set the mood for the night, I opted for a peach anarkali while Harman went with a blue tuxedo.”
