Nikita and Priyesh, Goa

In a classic case of friendship blossoming into love, Nikita, an event planner, and Priyesh, a chartered accountant based in New Zealand, had known each other for more than a decade but a thousand miles in between them kept them from taking the plunge. But, as fate would have it, the duo just couldn’t ignore the chemistry in between them and decided to take the next step and get married. Capturing the memorable moments of their beautiful Goa wedding was WeddingSutra Favorite – WhatKnot who framed all the action and emotions in evocative frames.

How They Met
Nikita shares, “Priyesh and I have known each other for the longest time. We met almost 13 years ago through a common friend and from that day itself, we’ve been inseparable. When Priyesh moved out to New Zealand to pursue his career, we chose not to take our relationship to the next level and maintained our friendship. But we just couldn’t escape the chemistry between us and finally gave in after several years, with the blessings of our parents who were secretly wishing that we’d get together!”

Wedding Venue
“Being from the events industry myself, I had started looking for venues early on. Priyesh and I had always wanted a wedding where the guests would take happy memories home, and keeping our budget in mind, we decided Goa would be the best place to start. In no time, our trip to Goa was planned and we started the venue hunting process. When we visited the Bogmallo Beach Resort, we were pleasantly surprised by its beauty and convenience. Being just seven minutes away from the airport, this property gave us panoramic views of the Arabian Sea which was perfect for a beachside wedding. Their warm hospitality, food, and sheer variety of venues sealed the deal for us. Also, an important highlight for us was that each room faced the sea, so every guest could enjoy the stunning views.”

Wedding Planning
“The planner in me was extremely enthusiastic about planning the wedding but I had to curb down that urge and hand over the reins to a professional who made my vision come to life. Priyesh and I intentionally wanted our artists and vendors to be from Goa itself to avoid any logistical troubles. All our decor elements were simple yet personalized, and our theme #MyBestFriendsWedding was portrayed in one way or the other.”

Executing their magnificent wedding flawlessly was the PNP Entertainment team. On the photography front, WhatKnot captured candid moments of the festivities beautifully. Nikita says, “After WhatKnot covered our engagement, we were sure that we wanted them on board for our wedding too. Their work was superb and we are eagerly waiting our wedding film!” The beauty and hair team from ‘Hairspray and the Artist’ made sure Nikita looked perfect at every function.

Weddings Functions

Mehndi
The mehndi was a sunlit affair by the pool, and the decor palette was all about vibrant pops of blue and pink following a ‘Bohemian & Floral’ theme. Multiple seating areas allowed guests to bask in the sun or lounge by the poolside as they got henna patterns applied on their hands. The decor reflected Nikita and Priyesh’s peppy personas with it’s flowing drapes and floral ceiling. For this occasion, Nikita wore a lavender gown which she paired with a floral wreath on her head that echoed the bohemian theme. Priyesh, on the other hand, looked vibrant in his floral printed bandhgala.

Sangeet & Cocktail
Staying true to its theme, ‘Shining Bright Through the Night,’ the glitzy sangeet was full of dancing and music. Nikita shares, “Priyesh and I have a lot of common interests and the biggest one is our love for Bollywood movies. We are both extremely filmy and wanted to dance our hearts out at the sangeet. Being big fans of Hrithik Roshan, there were a lot of Hrithik songs on the playlist!” Nikita wore a light peach and silver lehenga which she paired with a half-up hairdo, and Priyesh matched her glamorous look in his silver bandhgala set with an asymmetric kurta.

Pyjama Party
As the name suggests, the Pyjama Party was a laid back occasion where everyone turned up in their pajamas and partied the night away in complete comfort. The couple’s loved ones also showed their support with ‘Sister of the Bride’, ‘Maid of Honor’ emblazoned on the back of their t-shirts proudly. Adding a funky element to his neon green attire, Priyesh donned a pair of glow in the dark glasses, while Nikita complimented him in her neon green pajama set.

Haldi
Following a ‘Shades of the Sun’ theme, the haldi function featured yellow and orange marigold blooms as the key decor element. There were also pops of white in the form of canopies that sheltered everyone from the blazing sun.

Rolling with the theme, Nikita chose a bright yellow saree and paired it with red floral jewelry. Priyesh opted for a light yellow embroidered kurta which soon turned into a bright yellow one thanks to his loved ones who smeared him with turmeric.

Wedding
Nikita shares, “Priyesh is a Punjabi, and I’m a Maharashtrian, so our wedding saw a crossover of both traditions. This spurred me to represent the best of both worlds, and hence I incorporated the traditional ‘nath’ (nose ring) and the ‘mundavalya’ (Maharashtrian forehead band) in my bridal look. With a distinctly pink color palette, the mandap overlooked the pristine Goan beach and contrasted delightfully with the azure sky.

Nikita glowed in a pink lehenga, while Priyesh kept it classy in a white sherwani and emerald necklace.

After Party
The duo rocked the dance floor at their ‘Happily Ever After’ party, where their wedding represented their story in a unique manner using the theme song of the popular sitcom ‘Friends.’ Filled with fairy lights and flashing strobes, the venue gave off serious party vibes and everyone joined in on the fun. Nikita, in a purple dress sparkling with sequins, danced to her heart’s content with Priyesh, who looked dapper in a green and black suit.
