This Marwari bride showcased her unique style with ensembles that included eclectic cuts, quirky embellishments, and magnificent embroidery.

Having the perfect wedding is every bride’s dream, and a large part of that dream means wearing ensembles that make a bride look perfect. Fashion-forward bride Divya knew exactly what she wanted in her wedding trousseau, and curated a wonderful collection of contemporary and classic ensembles.

How They Met
Divya shares, “Sagar and I met each other through social media six years ago and we started dating for a while. But, I think, time just wasn’t on our side and we decided to take a break. Years passed and we both took different paths in our lives. However, destiny had other plans and we happened to cross paths again leading us to rekindle our old friendship which blossomed into love. And from then, there’s been no looking back.”

Wedding Planning
“My dad had always dreamt of seeing me in a Rajwadi-like look on my wedding day. Personally, I too wanted to dress up in a regal way like Karisma Kapoor and Deepika Padukone did at their weddings. I wanted a look that was classy, elegant and royal. I love to style myself, and I was lucky to have people around me who were also excited about my outfits and my looks for all the functions. They would suggest new looks for me every now and then which made the whole process very enjoyable.” Speaking about her makeup experience, Divya adds, “My main makeup artist was Ojas Rajani. She plays so well with colors and I am confident to say that no one can beat her smokey eyes! Having worked in the industry for more than two decades, I could trust her with all my heart.”

Wedding Functions

Engagement And Sangeet
The wedding celebrations kicked off with the ring exchange ceremony, followed by the sangeet. Instead of the regular lehenga, Divya opted for a contemporary white and yellow gown by Dolly J Studio that featured striking patterns splashed across in dark grey. Her glittering jewelry and matte makeup completed her look for the evening.

Cocktail
Divya pushed the fashion envelope with her two ensembles for the cocktail party which had a rave vibe, and a pajama party theme. The first ensemble was a dress with many interesting elements – from its yellow, pink and mauve ruffled and layered skirt which had two lengths – the left side was gown-like in design and covered Divya’s leg, while the right side was styled like a mini skirt that stopped mid-thigh. Her ruffled bodice covered her back too, and dainty yellow shoulder straps held everything in place. Her hair was styled into a loose bun and a dainty pink flower tucked on one side of her head was a charming touch. Divya only wore discreet earrings for this look.

For the evening event, Divya switched to short ivory and pink ombre frock. The eclectic embellishments and cutesy puffed sleeves gave the outfit a chic vibe, and Divya looked gorgeous in it with her loose braid and side locks styled strategically to frame her face.

Mehndi And Haldi
The mehndi and haldi were combined into a joint ceremony. For this daytime, outdoor event, Divya opted for a bright yellow lehenga by Aisha Rao, which had funky embroidered graphic prints of leaves, flowers, and bells across the skirt and blouse. The light blue dupatta mirrored the same quirky floral motifs via patchwork pieces attached to it. Divya went for a glamorous vibe with her open styled tresses studded with flowers here and there, striking brows, and pink lids that matched her pink lips. Her kundan jewellery, especially her neckpiece and earrings, adorned with green embellishments paired beautifully with the sunny lehenga.

Wedding
Domes, minarets, palatial arches, floral motifs – Divya’s wedding lehenga was an opulent showcase of regal patterns, rich colors and ravishing embroidery and embellishments. Even her customized ‘kaleerein‘ (ornaments strung from bridal bangles) featured pretty strands of white pearls, golden links and shiny leaves that glittered with every shake of Divya’s wrists. Her hair was styled into a bun which made her magnificent jewellery the focus of her look – from her ornate ‘matha patti‘ (head ornament), choker neckpiece, nose ring and heavy dangling earrings. The wedding ceremony was held outdoors, in the daytime, and Divya’s dark, smokey lids and red lips were perfect for the occasion.

Reception
Divya made a grand entry at the reception in an edgy blazing red gown by Sulakshana Monga which had a giant rosette on the shoulder, crinkled elements in the skirt and a one-shoulder train. It was a fitting ensemble for the finale event of the wedding celebrations. She paired the gown with a diamond necklace, dangling earrings and bangles. Her makeup for this function was a throwback to yesteryears glamor, with her loose locks pinned back by a clip on one side, smokey eyes with dramatic lashes, and glossy lips.

Advice For Brides-To-Be
“Don’t take a lot of stress. I was a hyper and an over-excited bride. I always wanted things to be perfect and on time. But sometimes, it does not go the way you want it to. And that’s alright. Just make sure to select the best photographer, event planner and food caterer, and learn to trust them. Everything will go in flow once you have these things sorted out.”
