Inder Aujla
Inder's traditional Punjabi looks for her wedding in Sydney
Inder met Navraj via Facebook and they dated online without seeing each other. They were so in love, yet lived so apart as Inder is from Melbourne and Navraj from Sydney. The couple has been together for 5 years. Says Inder: “We knew our parents weren’t going to approve of this relationship, so we had to play a ‘drama role’ of pretending not to know each other and had someone send a formal marriage proposal for me like an arranged marriage. So it was an ‘arranged marriage’ on paper but for us it was love at first sight.”
Pre wedding shoot
Inder wore a pujabi suit in gold with cutdana work custom made by a designer in Jalandhar named Bhavna. She also wore a Purple saree and a long beach dress for the shoot.
Wedding shopping
Inder shares, “I’m quite Australian and wasn’t much aware of the designers, especially when I went to shop in India. I just went by the looks and picked up my wedding outfit. At the end of the day, the label didn’t matter but how it would look on a traditionally dressed bride did matter.”
Gold Salwar Kameez for Engagement & Sangeet
The Engagement and Sangeet celebration took place at The Sapphire Function Centre- Auburn, Sydney. Inder wore a very traditional all over gold and maroon salwar kameez. “I had a very elegant and standout look in mind and this was it”, explains Inder.
Traditional Punjabi Lehenga for wedding
The Wedding was held at The Gurudwara, Glenwood, Sydney. Inder wore a very traditional Punjabi Lehenga with all over cutdana, kundan and embroidery work. She picked this outfit during her trip to India from Surat.
Maroon and Purple Lehenga for Reception
The venue for the Reception night was at ‘The Curzon Hall’ which looked like a castle. Inder’s reception outfit was a maroon and purple lehenga with booti work and adorned with kundan stones. “I found this one from Jalandhar. I have very little knowledge about Indian clothing, but I can proudly say I did exceptionally well at picking just what I needed and what suited me best”, says Inder.
Make Up and Hair
Inder’s Makeup & Hair was done by one of the most talented artists in Australia (New Look Beauty by Fareha- Professional Hair, Makeup and Henna artist). Herwedding day makeup was very elegant with a simple hair updo. She wore real gold kundan jewellery that her mother in law gifted her for the big day.The Reception makeup was the wow factor, bright with lots of purple and pinks accessorised with a massive kundan jewellery set!
