Megha shops for her earthy and classic ensembles in Delhi,Jaipur, Banaras, and Calcutta

Megha and Karan never believed in love at first sight but when they met each other 9 years ago, there was no other logic to define their instant chemistry. And it led to a fun filled union on 27 May, 2012 in Pune.

Megha lives in Pune but for her trousseau she shopped in Delhi,Jaipur, Banaras, and Calcutta.

Long Peach Kurti and Lehenga for Cocktail

Megha chose a beautiful peach and white Lehenga by Ajay Sinha, a modern day Delhi-based designer, for her cocktail cum engagement. She says, “I had this Indo-Western look in my mind. Ajay created this beautiful long sheer kurti in peach with heavy embroidery that created a nice camouflage effect but kept the off-white skirt underneath very light for easy movement and no hindrance in dancing. The lehenga had a blue and gold border at the end that pepped up the entire outfit.” Megha wore gold jewellery presented to her by her in-laws. Her make-up was done by Dishita Saxena who teaches at Bobby Brown, London and hair by a hairstylist from Bahrain; both werevisiting India at that time.

Royal Blue Anarkali for Mehndi

This outfit again was picked up from Delhi and had a very flowy and simple ease about it. Megha says, “I picked up this dress from Shankutalam at their Lajpat Nagar branch. Since mehndi cum sangeet was a close family affair, I wanted to wear something simple. Another reason was not to dilute the impact of being all decked up for the wedding day. This royal blue anarkali with pink and gold embroidery looked dressy but not gaudy so was perfect for a realxed family affair.” The make-up was also muted for this early evening affair done by Bhavana Sharma from Head to Toes.

Sabyasachi Lehenga for Wedding

Megha wore a stunning red and purple Lehenga by Sabyasachi, the design genius, looking completely earthy, traditional and classic. As she puts it, “I tried about 200 different lehengas at different stores to find the right color and styling. This Sabyasachi lehenga had a brilliant combination of tomato red, purple and pink with silver and gold thread work all over. The choli was red and I got small buttis done over it. I wanted a hint of green too because of the beads in my jewellery so they added green piping in the whole outfit that did not stand-out but complemented perfectly. The broad purple bottom of the lehenga added the right edge and I teamed it up with a heavily bordered net dupatta.” She teamed this with polki jewellery that she ordered from Jaipur. Her make-up was done by make-up maestro Cory Walia. Megha says, “Cory worked his magic and made me look all vibrant and glowing.”
