From Nauvari sarees to delicate diamonds, bride Priyanka’s trousseau picks fused tradition with modern minimalism.
For an Indian bride, a wedding with multiple functions opens up a window of opportunities to showcase every facet of her style and personality. And that is exactly what bride Priyanka Pendse, an architect by profession, did with her varied outfit choices that were a mix of traditional and contemporary silhouettes.
Spread across Mumbai, the venues for the various festivities were chosen for their green vistas and natural beauty. Properties like the sea-facing Kino Cottage, lush Aarey Gardens, and the sprawling MCA Club Lawns made the final cut.
Priyanka shares, “Since my husband and I are practicing architects we both decided to design our own wedding. With the vision of having an authentic traditional Marathi wedding, we chose a venue that was lush with greenery – the Aarey Gardens. Also, we tried to keep everything as sustainable as possible.”
With Reshma Hair and Makeup Artist tackling the hairstyling, and Makeup By Shailee taking over the makeup, each bridal look that Priyanka flaunted matched the events and her ensembles beautifully.
Glowing in a Prussian blue mirror work lehenga, Priyanka amped up the glamour stakes for the sangeet as her lehenga reflected the light in the room with every twirl. To round off her look, the bride chose a girly half-up hairdo which she accessorized with gem-encrusted floral hair pins. Owing to her minimalistic style, her jewellery included a light diamond necklace, bracelet, and a statement ring.
Pulling all stops for her traditional Marathi wedding, the bride made sure that she expressed her love for the authentic Nauvari saree in each of the three looks. Veering towards bright colors like peach, mint green, and yellow, she also chose a bright purple zari dupatta to contrast with her saree. On the makeup front, she kept it classic by opting for a warm earthy look that highlighted her natural beauty. To keep things light and manageable, her hair was tied up in an elegant bun while her delicate gold jewelry dazzled under the sun.
Expressing her unique minimalistic yet feminine side, Priyanka chose a pastel peach and silver embroidered lehenga that complemented her entire look. Mauve shadow eyelids brought out the brown hue of her eyes while a layered diamond necklace adorned her neck. Left open in cascading waves, her long dark hair kept the entire look classic, simple yet glamorous.
