From a self-designed gown to a designer lehenga, Shalini's wedding trousseau included all things bright & beautiful.

Hosted a few days before the world went under lockdown, Shalini got to enjoy her dream wedding celebrations in Jaipur, before heading to California. From a boho-chic princess lehenga to a svelte silver gown, her diverse looks made her look distinctive. Here, she shares highlights of her wedding trousseau and celebrations that were captured flawlessly by WeddingSutra Favorite – Vows and Tales.

How They Met
Shalini shares, “As most of the best relationships go, Rishi and I were introduced through mutual friends. From our first date in a small Italian restaurant to a romantic surprise proposal with champagne and our best friends in New York’s Central Park Bow Bridge, our love story was the fairytale every girl dreams of.”

Wedding Planning
“The wedding was hosted at the beautiful Joypur Bansi Resort, in Jaipur. Spread over 15 acres, it has on its premises our family-owned Radha Saral Bihari Temple. Being an event planner I conceptualized and planned all the festivities myself with support from the hotel and a local event planner. We chose the incredibly talented team of Vows and Tales to capture our wedding. Our beautiful moments were documented by them in the most stunning frames. We were blown away by the natural beauty and raw emotions flowing through our photos. Indeed picking them was the best decision.

The bride donned spectacular outfits that were a mix of top labels and self-designed creations. Makeup artist Ojas Rajani gave her statement looks for her mehndi and sangeet, and Shradha Luthra of Doll You Up by S created her wedding and reception looks. Her jewelry picks boasted a blend of notable Indian and international jewelry houses.

Wedding Functions

Mehndi
In vibrant shades of periwinkle blue, bubblegum pink, and citrus, Shalini’s lehenga by Papa Don’t Preach by Shubhika was reminiscent of a colorful carnival. Her waist-length open curls crowned with a floral tiara and floral bangles made her look like a spring fairy. Rosy cheeks and soft pink lids were the perfect accompaniment for her fresh, youthful ensemble.

Sangeet
The magnificent decor and vibe of the sangeet called for a showstopping look. Shalini made heads turn in a spectacular self-designed silver gown with all-over embellishments that glittered and featured a plunging neckline and a statement ruffled shoulder. She teamed the gown with sparkling diamond jewelry and a chic curled updo, soft nude makeup, and bold, smoky eyes.

Wedding
The bride exuded radiance in a red lehenga that featured intricate golden embroidery and embellishments. Teamed with elaborate jewelry that included a multi-tier maang tikka, a Maharani nath (nose ring) and a spectacular aad necklace, her ensemble personified royalty. However, the surprise pops of blue across her outfit in the shape of peacocks really set her traditional outfit apart. A sleek bun, dewy skin, smoky eyes and dramatic red lips pulled her look together.

Reception
The bride wore her bridal ensemble for the reception dinner as well, with a few styling changes. She let loose her elegant bun into soft, romantic waves for a more relaxed look. She enjoyed the function with her loved ones who blessed her and participated in this finale event with full fervor.
