4. Splendour at the Puente Nuevo bridge in Rustic Ronda
Ronda is one of the most romantic places on earth. Begin your visit with the Puente Nuevo, literally ‘new bridge’ over Ronda’s Tajo Gorge, a geophysical feature that is the city’s landmark. You can take in the full splendor of the bridge at the miradors, or observation points in Plaza de España or Calle Ernest Hemmingway. Ronda is also home to one of the oldest bullrings in Spain. Last year, the quaint village of Villanueva de la Concepción in Antequera celebrated St Valentine’s Day by setting up the “10 steps for love”, a route that leads lovers to the prettiest and most prominent parts of the village, marked with delightful love notes. Look out for “Suéñame y te soñaré” (Dream of me and I’ll be dreaming of you) at the Avenida Blas Infante Viewpoint) and “Dejemos huella de nuestro amor” (Let’s leave a trace of our love) at the Calle Ribera.
