Wedding Details

Sangeet
The wedding events kicked off with a beautiful Sangeet on Wednesday November 22, 2006 at the Foxchase Manor in Manassas Virginia. The colorful and gorgeous decorations were provided by Partyland of Maryland. The theme of the evening was the color orange and lots of Gerber daisies. The couple sat on a lovely swing that was decorated with bright orange and gold fabric Gerber daisies.

The groom to be wore a Charcoal Gray with a light gray and blue stole. The bride to be wore a vibrant wine color fish cut langha with a halter blouse. The ladies at the event sat by a fireplace with colorful pillows and throws and sang traditional Punjabi wedding songs. The night continued with performances by friends and family. The gidha that was performed by Groom's sisters and cousin was a huge hit. Everyone danced the night away!

Sikh Ceremony
The couple had a traditional Sikh Ceremony on Friday November 24, 2006. The ceremony took place at the Sikh Foundation of Virginia Gurudwara in Burke Virginia.
The groom arrived on a white horse and the fellow groomsmen and family danced away as they arrived for the milini.

The groom wore a White colored Sherwani from Diwan Saheb with a purple turban. The bride wore a gorgeous Purple traditional Punjabi suit with a heavy dupatta draped over her head. The bride also topped off her look with a traditional parandee. Her bridesmaids were in lime green Punjabi suits to contrast with the purple. The ceremony lasted until about noon and then was immediately followed by lunch.

Hindu Ceremony
The hindu ceremony took place at the elegant Westfields Marriott in Chantilly, Virginia on Saturday, November 25, 2006. It was an absolutely gorgeous bright sunny day. The ceremony took place in the Grand Dominion Ballroom. The bride wore a very pretty red lehenga with crystal work and a peach border. The groom wore a cream colored sherwani from Diwan Saheb with swaroski crystal work and a red scarf to match the bride.

The ballroom was decorated by Prabha Bhamri and looked absolutely heavenly! The ballroom was lightly dimmed and had over 50 pink up lights all around to give the room a pink glow. The aisle was a zig zag aisle outlined with huge cylinder vases filled with water and lilies and pink lights. The mandap was a contemporary round pink and white structure with lilies and lights to accent it. It looked like it was out of a fairy tale. The jaimalas were very different and unique, pink and white lilies to match the décor. The bridesmaids wore peach suits. The bride walked out on her favorite song, "Tera Chehra" by Adnan Sami. The ceremony was a very enjoyable and filled with laughs and emotions.

Reception
Shortly after the hindu ceremony the reception took place in the same ballroom. The ballroom was now filled with tables with huge cylinder centerpieces filled with water and lilies and lights. The room had a vibrant pink glow. The head table was an extension of the mandap with the bride and groom in the middle and the parents on each side. There was a live feed from the video onto a projection screen so everyone could get a glimpse of themselves dancing and there was a beautiful slideshow with pictures of the bride and groom running throughout the night. Outside of the ballroom they had an ice sculpture that had 2 calla lilies frozen inside.

The guestbook was an album designed by the bride that had many pictures of the couple and some famous quotes. Every detail of the reception was nicely planned by the couple. The bride wore a very sexy fuschia pink fish cut lehenga, covered with heavy crystal work. The blouse was draped with beads and crystals on the sleeves and on the back. The handsome groom wore a Ralph Lauren black Tuxedo with a silver vest and tie. The night consisted of emotional and funny speeches, performances by family and friends and a special Bhangra Performance. Everyone danced the night away and enjoyed delicious food from Bombay Palace. The party favors were music CDs that had the bride and grooms favorite songs. The cover was beautifully designed by the Bride. The guests were raving about the decorations and details of the evenings. The night ended with some more dancing.
