Free- spirited Glamour
Neetu Vasanta's new age bride look
By Jaspreet Soni
It's a perfect case of 'opposites attract.' While Nitesh is diligent, Neetu is fun loving. While pursuing their MBA at IIM Calcutta, they became best of friends and before they knew it, love blossomed. As Neetu says, "He is the one who brings discipline to my mad life. We are complete opposites brought together by fate."
Neetu is free-spirited and a New Age bride. And that shows in the choice of her ensemble for every occasion. She loves partying and she treated her wedding as the biggest party of her life. "I wanted to enjoy the occasion as much as everyone else. Though the outfits needed to be traditional, they had to have the whiff of contemporary styling and ease."
Going retro for Teeka
Neetu says, "All the functions happened in Delhi. For teeka ceremony, we wanted to go a little retro. My sister designed a beautiful lemon yellow saree with kalis, dull gold sequins all over and fuchsia pink zari border, giving a very Mumtaz feel. I teamed it up with a fuchsia pink blouse." To complement the colors in the outfit, Neetu had a ting of green in eye makeup as well as jewelry, diamond brooch in green beads for neck and green sapphire and diamond earrings. Her makeup was done by Susane of Plum.
Ilk's Ultra Glam Gown for Cocktail
Neetu wore a beautiful one shoulder black gown with fishtail by Shikha Grover and Vinita Adhikari of fashion label ILK. "Shikha and Vinita are very good friends of mine. I always wanted to look like a Christian bride but that was not possible for the actual wedding day. Cocktail was perfect opportunity to fulfill that dream. I had a concept in mind and they executed it perfectly in their signature style. They used black tulle fabric to give it a very suave look." explains Neetu. To add more glamour and edginess, the shoulder pad had metallic bolts. Makeup was Ambika Pillai.
Sabyasachi Lehenga for Wedding
Neetu wore a stunning Sabyasachi Lehenga for her wedding. She says, "It was the most exciting day of my life. I was hitting designer stores for that perfect dress. My search ended at Sabyasachi's. This lehenga had a beautiful maroon tone giving it the auspiciousness and hints of fuchsia, turquoise and green in the border, completely me, and very heavy dull gold zari all over. To add my touch, I teamed it with a bright orange dupatta with zari buttis and maroon velvet low cut blouse. We borrowed the work from the lehenga and instead of bulking the entire blouse, started the embroidery from the sides leading to the back. Priyanka Kapoor did my makeup." Very unlike a conventional bride, Neetu put soft curls in her hairs and had her dupatta on her shoulder instead of head. Neetu explains, "The first thing I told Priyanka was that I did not want to look like a regular bride. Doing big buns and putting teeka on forehead is just not me. She understood it completely and did a fabulous job. Fresh red roses added the zest."
