Think of romance and Italy and you’d probably veer toward Venice. But while the gondolas and bridges are beautiful, the ancient city of Rome is a deep and faceted destination for two people in love.
The city with its grand streets, breathtaking ancient monuments, gorgeous architecture and electric vibe is the perfect place to propose or rekindle a romance.
Gurnoor and Snehdeep fell in love with the city and decided this would be the location for their pre-wedding shoot. Looking like snapshots from a silver screen Italian romance, Gurnoor tells us all about the shoot and the love story that made it happen.
About the couple
“I live in the US where I work as a Management Analyst in the U.S. Federal Government. My fiancé Snehdeep worked in IT infrastructure in Delhi for 4 years. She will soon be moving to the United States.”
How we met
“Our parents introduced us and we talked for a couple of months after that. When I went to India in April, I met her and fell in love. Our parents then organized a ‘roka’ – a sort of engagement ceremony in Punjabi culture. It does seem like everything fell into place quite quickly, but it’s been wonderful since we met.”
“We want to credit WeddingSutra’s Instagram for the idea behind this shoot. We were so inspired by a post, we decided to go to Rome. We hired Mike Kire, a photographer there. The biggest challenges were the crowds every morning – Rome is always bustling with tourists, especially on weekends.
But we were lucky. Our photographer was wonderful and gave us a tour of the city even as he took pictures of us. Still, we did make a mistake with the planning. As they say, “Rome wasn’t built in a day” and so you certainly can’t see all of it in a short time. We tried to wrap the shoot up in two days and didn’t get a chance to see it all.
We received the edited photos later from Tuhina Chopra Photoworks and the outcome was fabulous!
Our favorite part of the shoot was the last… We were at the top of the Capitoline Hill building at sunset with a beautiful view of the entire city. After we finished, Snehdeep and I spent a little time taking it all in as the sun set.
It was really beautiful and we’ve already made plans to come back and spend a week in Rome and visit Florence and Venice as well!”
