Indian weddings are synonymous with luxurious hospitality and opulence. One key facet in creating the aura of extravagance is the styling at every event. Each function acquires a flavor unique to the traditions and rituals that follow. At one of their most recent weddings, WeddingSutra Favorite Celebrations ensured the décor at each event was distinctly different from the next and managed to make each set up better than the last! Panache Events & Entertainment, on the other hand, planned and managed the seamless wedding.
Leena and Kartik’s grand destination wedding at The Leela Palace Bengaluru welcomed 300 guests who flew in from across the globe. Leena’s family is from California and her father Mr. Subra Iyar, CEO of WebEx – California, picked Bengaluru as Leena’s wedding destination because he got married in this beautiful city back then. Leena thus has an emotional connection to the city as her parents got married here. With the location decided, the couple brought Celebrations on board with a to-do list that included creating a traditional style South Indian wedding backed by a glamorous event. The team did a stupendous job!
Starting with the traditional Ganesh pooja, the festivities began in a joyful, auspicious way. Emphasis was laid on the significance of the rituals with décor that was easy, elegant and touched by the traditional. The entrance featured golden bells in keeping with the sanctity of the moment. The banquet was festooned with flowers in yellow and white and drapes in peach and white further added to the allure. The chair ties cascaded gracefully behind each seat.
A welcome dinner by the pool was given a laid-back, lounge vibe with a Moroccan accent. Simple, powerful décor elements – bright blue and white fabric drapes, rich purple velvet table overlays and glowing Moroccan lamps put the mood on the map. Whimsical touches – fairy lights, mirrors and flowers – brought a lightness to the breathtaking set up. House music playing and guests chilling, this was wonderful welcome for all.
The mehendi was celebrated in the day with bright colors and lots of flowers. A magic tunnel completely smothered in flowers led guests to the venue. Artificial turf on the ground, floral sculptures in bright pink, yellow and green, a canopy of ombre toned flowers, posies in vases – it was like a spring break in a secret garden! The truck-themed bar was a humorous touch to this Indian celebration and the couple had organized tarot reading, live jewelry making, palm reading, etc. to keep their guests engaged.
The following evening, the Sangeet décor was meant to evoke the mystic Sufis with a ‘Sheesh Mahal’ theme. A grand entrance with drapes and chandeliers welcomed the guests. Through the wedding, the couple let their loved ones bask in the golden warmth of regal graciousness. A magnificent golden dome and pillars covered in fresh red roses stood at the entrance leading the attendees into the area where the duo was to be wed. The ceremony took place in a gorgeous mandap created out of white floral drapes and tassels.
The theme continued at the grand sit-down lunch right after the wedding. Red roses adorned not just the tables but even the impressive entrance into the ballroom. The opulence of gold was expressed in gold vases and massive golden elephants as well.
The reception marked the closing of the wedding celebrations and the couple chose classic white décor. A winter wonderland was conjured up with cool blue ambient lights, the entire ballroom ceiling filled with flower danglers and white floral centerpieces. Golden overlays added glitter and glam to the evening. The Celebrations team completely changed the wall panels, which were green from the Sufi night, to white and the flooring from beige to white in less than 24 hours! The western style affair witnessed family speeches, followed by the couple’s first dance and a cake cutting.
And that’s how a grand wedding is truly celebrated!
