Wedding Planning
Keyur Patel from Prasang Events shares, “The destination wedding of Varishensagar Shah and Soha Patel was an elaborate and extravagant affair. The aim was to make the Gujarati wedding an event which brought together friends, relatives as well as business associates in a lavish three-day celebration. The venue on the backwaters of Kerala was an ideal location to conceptualize a wedding which was exclusive and not like the usual destination wedding locations in India.

While Soha’s relatives were all mostly from their hometown barring a few from the USA, Varishensagar had relatives travelling from all over the world & also business associates travelling to India from 18 countries, especially for this wedding. This wedding was meant to be a showcase of their business as well as personal affluence. Kerala had a unique feel to it that was pristine and untouched, hence, the traditional elements of southern India were to be highlighted. The décor was to be subtle and extremely sophisticated. Each function had to be different in terms of décor, menu selection and overall feel.”

Planning a celebration at this scale is not an easy feat as Keyur goes on to explain, “When we conceptualized the wedding, we realized that communication and availability of certain items was going to be an issue. Hence, all the events were detailed to the last minor requirement and a lot of materials were outsourced from various cities. This ensured that the plans flowed ahead smoothly. As is the case with most events, there were last-minute challenges but our team rose up to the challenge and tackled them.

Wedding Functions
Sadhya
Keyur shares, “The Sadhya décor and ambience incorporated elements that are popular at homes in Southern India, like, bamboo, banana leaves, stone lanterns and a souk with spices! The guests enjoyed eating on banana leaves with the local servers explaining the entire course of the meal.”

Wedding and Reception
Kicking off the celebrations was a spirited baraat where the decor was carefully curated. Keyur shares, “The baraat pathway was decorated with pink and white roses along with hydrangea and gypsum flowers that were accentuated by foliage. The wedding stage was set up at the level of the Backwaters flowing adjacent to it, giving a look as if the stage was set up on the water itself.”

Following the wedding was the reception which matched the grandeur of the wedding. Keyur shares, “The fairytale wedding continued with a rich maroon and gold themed reception that also consisted of a scrumptious dinner.”

After Party
Post the wedding, the energetic newlyweds were still in the mood to party which led them to host a Gatsby-themed after-party. Keyur shares, “The bride and groom made a grand entry to the black and gold hues venue. In true Gatsby-style, they filled up a champagne tower. Themed props were present for the guests which resulted in glam selfies and a happening night!”
