How They Met
Surbhi shares, “Pranshu and I met through common friends at an ice cream shop when we were 13 and have remained friends ever since! A few years down the line, we went to a concert together after which everything changed as we started dating and we’ve been inseparable ever since!” We’ve been together for nine years now and have literally grown up together.”

The Proposal
Recollecting the surprise proposal that Pranshu planned for her Surbhi shares, “Pranshu was keen on doing something special so that we could spend time together and he flew me to the Maldives at the first chance he got once the restrictions were eased! Once there, he popped the question to me on the boardwalk outside our water villa. To experience that under the blue skies, surrounded by turquoise waters was truly overwhelming and surreal. He created a magical moment I’ll never forget for the rest of my life.”

Wedding Planning
Hosted at a plush resort that’s a two-hour drive away from the Jolly Grant Airport and located at the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayan ranges, Surbhi and Pranshu’s wedding was bestowed with a stunning backdrop of endless mountains. Surbhi shares, “We fell in love with the picturesque mountain backdrop, lovely weather, and great outdoor venues. Plus, the food was exquisite.”

The couple roped in the very talented team of WeddingNama who understood their needs with complete clarity with some outstanding results. Surbhi gushes, “Team WeddingNama was great to work with and we got some beautiful shots all thanks to their creativity and spontaneous ideas. Even after the festivities had ended, they still made time to squeeze in a photo shoot for us despite the fact that we were running behind schedule. We loved the trailer they made for us, it was remarkable!”

Ankita Asthana from WeddingNama shares her experience, “We pulled off a mobile-free wedding in the mountains and it was a photographer’s delight! The wedding planners gave cute handbells to all guests so they could joyfully ring them at the Varmala ceremony. We got the anchor to request them to set their phones aside so as to be able to ring these bells. This ensured the guests didn’t hold a phone in their hands and the wedding space was mobile-free. Needless to say, the result was a series of surreal photos. Surbhi and Pranshu are the most chilled out couple and every minute we spent photographing them was tons of fun.

The families were a delight and the celebrations kicked off with a vibrant Haldi ceremony where we took one of the most epic group shots with all their friends and family in a single frame, with the couple lifted up and a view of the mountains at the back! The weather was absolutely beautiful. Although it rained during Sangeet, these guys pulled off an absolutely mind-blowing outdoor event with loads of fun and action! Special mention to the planning team for making this smooth by helping us at every step with crowd management and being totally involved, ensuring we get the most beautiful frames. The wedding itself was straight out of a dream, you need to watch their trailer to feel the goosebumps!”

Surbhi adds, “I would also like to give a shout out to the Crimson Circle. They did a great job in making sure everything went smoothly during the events.”

Haldi
Basking under the sun and sheltered by the serene blue sky, the couple’s Haldi was a cheery event where their loved ones were at their boisterous best as they smeared the couple with turmeric. Seated against a backdrop crafted out of marigolds, the couple looked radiant as they were playfully showered by flower petals.

Sangeet
Surbhi shares, “We envisioned a sundowner Sangeet and hence, decided to go with a floral garden look which was accentuated by cabanas, citrus fruits and bright flowers. Initially, it was a sunny day but it suddenly started raining right before the event. At that moment, we were skeptical whether the festivities would pan out as we had imagined. But our guests were unstoppable as they were all full of energy, regardless of age, and continued to dance tirelessly despite the rain. At the end of the evening, we watched the sun set behind the mountains in the pink twilight sky as we continued celebrating into the night.”

Wedding
Backed by a mesmerizing view of the mountains, the wedding was hosted at JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa which with its 115 luxurious rooms was perfect for the couple’s compact guest list. Furthermore, to ensure that every moment was enjoyed to the fullest by their loved ones, the duo chose to execute a mobile-free wedding where the bride entered to the tinkling of miniature brass bells instead of the usual clicking of phone cameras! Conceptualized by Pranshu’s father who owns a decor production company, the decor team designed and created a hand-carved wooden mandap for the wedding. Surbhi shares, “We decided to pair the floral arrangements with pampas grass and it went beautifully with the wooden mandap.”

Reception
Surbhi shares, “For the reception, we decided to give the venue a contemporary vibe with a combination of white florals and green foliage along with crystal chandeliers. Moreover, we had requested the resort to follow stringent safety protocols for each event which were complied with successfully till the reception which was the very last event.

Advice For Couples
Surbhi suggests, “I would recommend visiting and staying at the hotels you’ve shortlisted for the wedding just to get a feel of the place before selecting it. Also, try to conduct face-to-face meetings with your vendors. The level of service is just as important as the level of their creativity and meeting them allows you to foresee the kind of rapport you’ll develop with them. For us, WeddingSutra was incredibly helpful when it came to creating a shortlist of venues and vendors. We could easily browse through the weddings that were hosted at our wedding venue and research the vendors who were involved in the wedding. This in turn helped us curate our own wedding squad.”
