Donia and Jonathan, Mussoorie

Planned by their friends and surrounded by the divine sunlit hills of Mussoorie, this couple’s wedding was emotional yet dreamy.

A classic case of childhood friendship blossoming into love, Donia and Jonathan dated for eight long years before deciding to take the plunge into marital bliss with a fairytale-like wedding surrounded by the beauty of Mussoorie. Photographed by WeddingSutra Favorite – The Photo Lab who used their creativity and skills to capture each precious moment, this wedding was replete with laughter and joy.

How They Met
Jonathan shares, “We first met at a youth camp for teenagers and have been friends ever since. However, we started dating in 2012 and distance did intervene during that time as Donia moved to Jordan to work with Syrian refugees. Although we weren’t sure when we would see each other next, we were able to keep our relationship strong.”

The Proposal
For his proposal, Jonathan chose to keep it simple and private. He shares, “I chose an empty beach surrounded by trees that I decorated with fairy lights to pop the question, just the way she would have dreamed of!”

Wedding Planning
“Our friends helped us with everything. I think the most important part was that we knew what we wanted and hence, could go ahead with everything effortlessly. When I took stock of the bigger picture, Donia would pay meticulous attention to the details. While the invitations were designed by me, our friend June volunteered as a makeup artist, and my friends’ company Studio7 took care of the wedding video. It was, overall, a fantastic experience to have familiar faces around us. And even though the pandemic raged on, our buddies were always by our side.”, shares Jonathan.

But, when it came to photography, the duo decided to rope in the experts and chose ‘The Photo Lab’. Impressed with their work, Jonathan says, “The Photo Lab team was there at every step of the way and captured each moment so beautifully that we’ll be reliving them for the rest of our lives. They understood our story and us as individuals. This, in turn, can be seen in their pictures which have turned out absolutely amazing!”

Weddings Functions

Bonfire Night
“The day we arrived, we organized a bonfire night under the stars where we sang and played guitars in a mountainside cottage that gave us splendid views of the Doon Valley.”

Sangeet
“Our Sangeet night was replete with fun and an absolute laugh riot. Everyone danced to their favorite tracks and enjoyed the night till the wee hours.”

Wedding
“For us, the wedding was a dream come true. Everything was absolutely perfect from the weather to the decor. We were overwhelmed that even though a global pandemic raged on, we were able to make our dreams come true. However, it was punctuated by a funny incident when my pants got swapped with that of my groomsman, and what a hilarious moment it was!”, shares Jonathan.

Advice for Couples
The duo advises, “Don’t try to do everything by yourselves. Involve those you trust and delegate tasks. This will not only allow you to enjoy your journey but also allow a sense of togetherness to seep in.”
