How they met
Suhani and Sumit’s paths crossed in 2019 in London, where Sumit was completing his MBA and Suhani had just returned from Mumbai after her stint in Bollywood. Despite the hurdles of the Covid pandemic and a long-distance relationship between Dubai and London, they instantly knew they wanted to be together. Suhani shares, “I planned a proposal for Sumit in 2021 at London Kings Cross, a place where we often lingered, missing trains just to spend more time with each other. Little did I know, Sumit had a surprise in store, proposing to me later on his Delhi rooftop!”

Wedding Planning
With their families hailing from diverse backgrounds in cities around the world, the couple decided on a memorable destination wedding where they could enjoy with everyone under one roof. They picked Jaipur for its historical charm and hosted the getaway at the beautiful JaiBagh Palace. Dzire Events was brought on board to handle the execution, while Team Oragraphy captured their moments in flawless frames.

Suhani shares, “Our top priority was to capture every precious moment of our wedding, so Oragraphy was the first vendor we booked after going through numerous profiles. Yogi and his team were incredible, providing us with more support than we could have ever imagined. From the moment we connected, Yogi showed genuine interest in our stories and backgrounds. His enthusiasm for our special day was infectious, and it felt like he was just as excited about it as we were. He stayed in touch with us constantly in the months leading up to the wedding to ensure his team was clear on our tastes and expectations. Not only does Yogi possess a brilliant and creative mind, but he also demonstrated remarkable organizational skills, thinking five steps ahead and understanding the technical aspects of wedding planning and decor.”

She continues, “On the wedding day, Yogi and his team brought so much fun and humor to the events, making everyone feel at ease. They got to know our close family and friends, ensuring they captured all the genuine reactions and special moments. Their professionalism was exceptional, yet they remained warm and approachable. We were blown away by the incredible output of the photos and videos. They effortlessly captured all the intimate moments, and during the most significant parts of the day, we didn’t even realize they were there taking photos and videos. The final results surpassed all our expectations, leaving us with cherished memories that will last a lifetime.”

Having previously worked as an actress in films, Suhani brought along her own makeup dream team of Glam by Preet, Brides by Koho, and Fouzi Kazi to ensure her looks were utter perfection. Additionally, she wore wedding jewelry custom-designed by her mother-in-law, adding an extra layer of significance and love to the whole experience.

Wedding
Hosted against the pristine white facade of the palace hotel, the varmala ceremony painted a riveting picture of love as the couple exchanged garlands. Romantic yet infused with tradition, the delicate decor of white, red, and green saw an abundance of flowers and foliage. The modern mandap was an intricate work of art, replete with a green canopy, bells, brass elements, and more.

Taking a modern and egalitarian approach to the ceremony, the couple skipped out on ceremonies like the ‘Kanyadaan’ and ‘Vidaai’ ceremonies, instead choosing to emphasize their commitment to equality and celebrating their union in a way that truly reflected their values and beliefs.

Advice for couples
“Embrace the entire process! Wedding planning is challenging and stressful, but remember, it’s a joint project that will bring you and your partner even closer together. Focus on the journey rather than striving for the perfect day. Take this opportunity to understand each other’s families better and connect with the people who will be a part of your special day. Throughout the planning, you’ll build strong bonds with vendors who may even become lifelong friends.

Remember to prioritize being present at the moment and switch off any stress a few days before the wedding. This day is about celebrating your love, so embrace the imperfections and enjoy every precious moment of your wedding journey!”
