Vedika and Preetish, Kolkata
From a Tomorrowland-inspired Sangeet to a Moroccan themed Mehndi and an English Garden reception, this couple’s wedding flaunted a variety of unique themes.
Swathed in bright hues and replete with traditional elements, Vedika and Preetish’s wedding in Kolkata was peppered with heartfelt moments. The couple envisioned a grand Indian wedding for which they roped in WeddingSutra Favorite – Marriageuana who put in their meticulous planning skills and creativity to orchestrate a wedding right out of a storybook!
Wedding Planning
Planning a wedding can be daunting, and hence the couple roped in Marriageuna to helm the planning and decor front. Vedika shares, “Working with team Marriageuana was such a breeze. Pre-wedding jitters were easily held at bay as we had complete trust in the team. They clearly understood our vision and even developed a strong rapport with all our loved ones. We would happily work with them again!”
Wedding Functions
Mehendi
Encircled by a white cutwork backdrop through which the sun played peek-a-boo and a stage backed by arabesque motifs, the couple’s Mehndi stayed true to its ‘Moroccan city square’ theme. From a traditional jewelry stall to belly dancers and a perfume mixing stall, every detail was looked into carefully to engage the guests and transport them to the mysterious country of Morocco while they got henna patterns on their hands!
Sangeet
Indian weddings are all about families coming together, and it’s advisable to host a healthy mix of events for the younger as well as the older generation. The Sangeet event was based on a ‘Tomorrowland’ theme that had everyone grooving across all ages. Dotted with multi cuisine food stalls, quirky decor elements and a well-lit dance floor, this event combined the best of tradition and glamour. Furthermore, the bride made a dashing statement as she entered with an all-girl marching band in tow!
Bride’s Bhaat
An intimate affair where the bride celebrated along with her loved ones, the Bhaat ceremony was punctuated with joyous as well as spiritual moments where all the elders blessed the bride and took part in age-old rituals while offering their prayers to the deity.
Groom’s Bhaat
The groom’s Bhaat ceremony had a backdrop depicting traditional puppets and an entrance dotted with suspended brass bells or ghungroos. After all the auspicious rituals were completed, the groom and his loved ones had a jolly time as they danced to live music.
Bride’s Haldi
Vedika’s Haldi was distinctly simple with an all-floral decor replete with bright yellow marigold flowers. The theme essentially was ‘pour me some flowers’ and needless to say, everyone had a boisterous time slathering the glowing bride with turmeric while she was seated under a canopy crafted out of marigold blooms. She glowed in a simple yellow kurta set while receiving blessings from all the elders in the family.
Groom’s Haldi
Hosted under the open sky by the azure pool, the groom’s Haldi was a breezy one decorated with brass urlis filled with petals and a flowy yellow canopy that kept the heat at bay. Moreover, the family played several engaging games to celebrate the occasion while the groom’s pals mischievously doused him with Haldi!
Cocktail
Doing full justice to its selected theme, that was, ‘LIT’, Vedika and Preetish’s cocktail was lit up by sleek neon lights that created the perfect party ambience. Renowned Bollywood singer Mika Singh belted out his peppy tunes onstage to an exuberant audience of guests who also cheered the couple on. Later in the evening, age was just a number as everyone gathered on the dancefloor and reveled the night away!
Wedding
For the big day, the couple and their wedding squad pulled all the stops with a ‘Mysuru’ themed wedding. Interspersed with cheery yellow blooms, delicate crystal chandeliers, a bright red carpet and arches engraved with ethnic motifs, the wedding was nothing short of a dream come true. Also, Vedika inscribed her bridal dupatta with her and Preetish’s names ensuring that she carried the precious memories of this momentous occasion with her forever.
Reception
Romantic and elegant, the couple’s ‘English Garden’ reception was hosted right after the wedding. Overflowing with stunning red and white-hued blooms, the backdrop against which the newlyweds sat was the highlight of the event. Flanked by huge traditional vases adorned with blooms and bordered by a small fence crafted out of green foliage, the reception stage was in sync with the theme.
