Salima and Vinny, Palm Springs, USA
The #MandapToManrao Wedding was a celebration of the meeting of two heart.
Some people were destined to be together – even if it means one person taking destiny into their own hands.
Vinny Manrao knew Salima Mavani was the girl of his dreams and with just a little Machiavellian planning, he made his (and her) dreams come true. Here he tells us all about their journey from #MandapToManrao from start to forever.
How We Met
“Salima and I met “randomly” back in 2012, on a party bus to Wine Country. And by “random”, what I really mean is that I stalked Salima on Facebook, found out she was going to be on the bus and then charmed/bribed my way into an invite. I knew if I could get in the same room as her, the rest would be history. We had too much in common to not get along. We both love hip-hop, we’re both foodies and love to explore new restaurants, and most importantly, we both love dogs. Since the day we met, I knew she was the one for me. The chemistry was undeniable and getting to know each other was seamless. After the first few years of dating, we decided to move in together. A few months later, we decided to get a dog together. And a year after that, we decided to move to L.A. together. Each milestone has represented a new chapter in our lives and there’s no one I’d rather flip the pages with than her.”
“After four years of dating, I knew it was time to finish the preamble to this book. So on September 24th, 2016, I returned to the scene of the crime, Wine Country, and popped the question and of course, she said YES! The rest of the book still needs to be written but something tells me that years from now when I pick it up to read it again I won’t be able to put it down!”
“We thought Palm Springs, with its amazing restaurants and beautiful weather, would be the perfect place to host our friends and family. The laid-back vibe of the town would let them kick their feet up and relax as they watch us begin our journey as man and wife. For the wedding ceremony, we decided to go with a wedding venue that has a more upbeat, trendy vibe and the Riviera Palm Springs was the perfect match.”
The duo brought in the revelries with their sangeet. While Vinny wore an all-black ensemble, Salima opted for an Anushree Reddy lehenga in shades of green and blue with florals across the skirt.
The couple took their vows on a crisp morning. The venue, gorgeous in pure white and lush green, featured walls of foliage that encompassed the mandap and rows of white chairs resplendent in contrast. Vinny wore a white sherwani and matched it with a white saafa with golden motifs woven into the fabric. Salima opted for a golden lehenga with a pale pink dupatta from Sari Palace in Cerritos, California.
On the night of the reception, Salima and Vinny emulated the kind of glamour one finds on Hollywood red carpets. A grey gown from Sari Palace, covered in embellishments and a sexy thigh-high slit was her pick for the night. Vinny, on the other hand, chose to look dapper in a classic black tuxedo. Soft purple lights, floral centerpieces and lots of candles candles were used to create a magic like no other, at their wedding.
