Inspired by the bridal styles of Bollywood stars, bride Sherina packed a punch with her distinctive looks.
Looking perfect at your wedding functions involves much more than zeroing in on your favorite outfits. It’s about identifying and exuding your personal sense of style while not compromising on comfort. Bride Sherina meticulously planned her various looks, from the whimsical to high glamour and traditional, with a wide range of ensembles. Explore her different looks below.
How They Met
Bride Sherina shares, “I hail from Houston, Texas, while Madhav moved to the US for further studies, and stayed on to work. Our paths crossed in a chance encounter when we were introduced by his brother and sister-in-law, although it was two years before we actually spoke. I took a chance and texted him one day, and to my surprise, he asked me out!” Over tacos and margaritas, the couple discovered a shared love of travelling, working out, and as a surprise twist, crude oil. What’s more, Sherina and Madhav both work for two competing oil and gas companies!
For US-based Sherina and Madhav, Thailand served as the perfect wedding destination thanks to its ease of visas on arrival and convenient accessibility for their guests from South East Asia. For their ideas and inspiration, the couple relied on WeddingSutra Real Weddings. The descriptions, photos and tagged vendors enabled them to plan their wedding from across the world!
When deciding her outfits, Sherina sought inspiration for her looks from celebrity brides like Bollywood stars Anushka Sharma and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and found all her outfits at premium wedding stores in Delhi. For her makeup looks, she chose to work with two artists. She wanted to glam up for her sangeet, wedding and reception, and booked WeddingSutra Favorite Sejal from Makeovers by Sejal for the same who gave her bold lashes and striking eyes. For her mehendi and boat party, Nui, a local makeup artist gave Sherina a glowing visage. The bride sported distinctive and immaculate hairstyles for all her functions, thanks to the talented Herman from Indonesia. The Bride chose WeddingSutra Favorite – Ima Habsyi to trace beautiful henna designs for her mehndi function.
The celebrations kick-started with the mehendi lunch that featured bohemian decor that included a variety of flowers mixed with dream catchers and other elements. Sherina wore a floor-length multicolored floral dress with lemon yellow trimming, which she paired with simple diamond jewellery for a boho but glam look. With her soft messy side braid accented with sprigs of baby’s breath, a fresh face and nude-pink lips, she looked like a festive forest fairy.
For the colorful sangeet celebrations, Sherina looked sunkissed in a mustard lehenga from Yoshita Couture. The lightly embroidered lehenga with paisley patterns offset the glitzy sequined blouse and dupatta perfectly. Her jewellery for this function included a simple yet stately polka set with emerald stones. She complimented her outfit with bold makeup and a softly tousled hairdo.
For the stylish river cruise, Sherina decided to keep it minimal with a contemporary ivory crop top and skirt ensemble with a ruffled jacket with delicate gold embroidery. Her glowing visage shone through with a kundan choker, bangles and statement earrings. She opted for a swept back high ponytail that gave an air of sophistication, and added a tiny silver bindi for that extra dose of charm.
Actress Anushka Sharma‘s dreamy floral and blush pink wedding lehenga set some serious style goals for Sherina. For her outdoor day wedding, she chose a primrose pink lehenga from Christina WT in Shahpur Jat, which featured dainty floral and pearl accents, a pleated hem and crystal tassels on the sleeves. She teamed her outfit with a polki jewellery set with fuchsia crystals that added a pop of colour, and kept her makeup dewy and hair simple. She skipped wearing heavy bangles or the traditional bridal bracelets, and opted only for a diamond tennis bracelet that had simple pearl and gold kaleerein, and her engagement ring.
The final event, the reception, was an elegant soiree with trendy decor, enthralling music and a sumptuous five-tier cake. For her ensemble, the bride wanted to recreate Priyanka Chopra’s wedding lehenga, and she discovered her dream outfit at Christina WT again. The shimmering red lehenga was adorned with crystal embroidery, and she teamed it with diamond jewellery. Sherina kept her hair loose in softly twirling waves, and sported bold eyes, heavy lashes and a gorgeous red pout to complete the look.
