Versha and Hitesh, Moksha Himalaya Spa Resort, Parwanoo

Versha and Hitesh had a hilltop wedding at a beautiful resort in Himachal Pradesh where guests arrived in cable cars and a band performed the shlokas and their meanings.

When two toppers fall in love, chemistry no longer remains a thing of textbooks and exams. Versha and Hitesh bonded over their love for academics and decided to tie the knot once their friendship turned to love. Their destination wedding at the Moksha Himalayan Spa Resort near Shimla was memorable for many reasons, and here, bride Versha shares some of the highlights.

How We Met
“We met after we got our board results at the coaching classes that we had joined to get assistance for our BBA entrance exam. We were introduced to each other as the toppers of our respective schools. It’s safe to say that it was a rather nerdy beginning!”

Proposal
“Our relationship has been a proposal-free one. It’s not because we are less romantic than others; it’s just that we are just lazier than the rest. So to cover up we like to say that it was a seamless graduation from friendship to love.”

Wedding Venue
“We had a hilltop wedding at the Moksha Himalaya Spa Resort in Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh. It is a property near Shimla, surrounded by the enchanting Shivalik ranges. It was the backdrop of the valley and the hills, as well as the pleasant weather at that height which made it the perfect destination for our wedding! And yes, the cable car which was the only way to reach the hotel became the unforgettable highlight of our wedding!”

Wedding Planning
“We had a strong team of professionals that included Mohita Abrol – our wedding planner, Femina Plus – who took care of the makeup, and Shivani – who was the decorator. Onion Pink designed our invitations which had a cable car on the top and caricatures all over. It was exceptionally cute and was made possible only with her help. Last but not the least; The Wedding Matinee did the best job ever of freezing our most special moments so that all the smiles, emotions laughter and joy around our big day could be cherished forever.”

Wedding Functions

Sangeet
“We had our sangeet on the first evening, and it was a crazy night filled with dance performances. During our performance, our hearts were beating so hard, that our ribcages were under the threat of being broken! But we pulled it off despite the nervousness.”

Haldi
“The haldi (turmeric application) ceremony was the best of all the functions. Our friends were trying to mess with us without realizing what the consequences could have been. So we showed them! We both rubbed off the haldi against all of them, covering their clothes in the yellow paste!”

Wedding
“A lot of times the pheras tend to take the back seat at Indian weddings despite being the whole point of the festivities. To avoid this from happening at ours, both our families decided that we would have a super engaging wedding. We added a ton of zing to this function by booking a band that explained all the shloks to the guests by singing their meanings and supporting it with music. I also added a touch of personalization to the ritual by taking seven vows and Hitesh had to agree to them all before proceeding on to the next one. This one is my favorite memory from our wedding. We had our pheras at sunset against the view of the hills. I wore a deep red lehenga from Shringar, while Hitesh wore a golden sherwani from Gujral Sons and paired it with a red dupatta to match it with my outfit.”

Reception
“We shifted base for our reception from Parwanoo to New Delhi. I wore a gown from Asiana, while Hitesh wore a suit by Shobhit and Amit. The event at Hotel City Park hotel was filled with fun and energy as everyone danced away to the music all throughout. In fact, we don’t remember anyone using the stage because everyone was busy dancing!”

Advice For Couples
“Enjoy your big day to the fullest. Don’t shy away from dancing, being crazy, being expressive and doing everything that you ever dreamt of doing at your wedding!”
