We met as undergraduates and instantly became friends before we started dating each other. Our long courtship lasted for about eight years, following which we decided to get married in a traditional Gujarati wedding ceremony in Anand, Gujarat.
Honeymoon Planning
We are both very busy working professionals and therefore didn’t get to efficiently plan our honeymoon after the wedding. To make the most out of our paid holiday leaves, we organized a romantic post-wedding vacation to make up for our impending honeymoon. We were really excited as this was our first trip together – one-and-half years after we had tied the knot!
Honeymoon Highlights
We always wanted to go to Italy and had specifically planned on going to the south of Italy as tourism is quite a niche factor there. But the beauty of the place lured us to cover the northern part of Italy too! We wanted to just enjoy and take some time off our busy schedules and therefore chose to cover the picturesque towns of Rome, Amalfi Coast, Naples, Sorrento and Ravello. The biggest highlight of our vacation was our luxurious stay at Hotel Quirinal Via Nazionale in Rome. The hotel is known for its historical significance and master architecture as it was built in 1865, the time frame when the central station and the beautiful Piazza Venezia were constructed. Therefore, it reflects the centuries-old history through its imperial style furniture and the antique decorations in all its rooms. We were so in awe of the surroundings in Rome that we even hired a professional photographer named Fabrizio for a beautiful post-wedding photoshoot to truly freeze the beauty of the places through pictures.
Most Romantic Moment
Apart from the romantic photoshoot, our trip to the colorful Amalfi coast and Sorrento was amongst the most favorite of our special moments. Each corner had a very picture-perfect vibe. Just walking through every nook and corner of Italy was very romantic. We were always surrounded by very kind people who readily helped us with directions when we were lost.
Must-experience
Amalfi coast: It is like a colorful paint book from top! We had a great time and loved walking through its bylanes. It is a region surrounded by cliffs, beaches and pastel-colored fishing villages and also a very famous among foreign tourists.
Can-avoid
Ravello: Even though Ravello is most famous for its cliffside gardens, the route to the places are quite steep and rugged which makes it difficult to drive around the area.
