Explaining how the team went about designing the wedding, Kinjal Adodra from Design HQ shares, “Hannah and Vidhur were eager to make their celebration a tribute to India, especially for their guests who were coming from various parts of the world. Hannah and her family, having explored India extensively, have a deep appreciation for Indian culture. To pay homage to Vidhur’s Punjabi heritage, Hannah’s family intended to infuse all of their events with a strong Indian cultural influence.

It was a truly invigorating experience working with Hannah and Vidhur in a world where many gravitate towards adopting Western trends. Both Hannah and Vidhur were steadfast in their desire to have their celebration deeply steeped in Indian culture. From the rituals and cuisine to the entertainment, every aspect was authentically regional, and their guests were eagerly enthusiastic about partaking in these traditions. Working with them was a seamless and joyful process, as they wholeheartedly placed their trust in us to bring their vision to life.”

Mehndi
Inspired by the vivid hues of Rajasthan, the mehndi celebration was an absolute stunner. Kinjal shares, “Hannah and Vidhur drew inspiration from the bustling local markets of Rajasthan for their Mehendi celebration. To recreate the market scene, we adorned the venue with colorful stoles, jootis, perfumes, and clay articles. The Mehendi ceremony took place near a fountain, where a larger-than-life hand-painted elephant served as a captivating photo opportunity. To provide a homely touch, we incorporated a swing into the decor, reminiscent of the swings often found in Indian households. We exclusively used locally sourced flowers such as genda, kaner, and gulaab. The shamiana and furniture were adorned with Rajasthani textiles, and various handicraft elements were employed as props. In essence, the setup exuded the vibrant spirit of a traditional mela, deeply rooted in the markets and culture of Rajasthan.”

Sangeet
Kinjal shares, “The Sangeet celebration drew its inspiration from the magnificent Mughal architecture that had left a lasting impression on Hannah and her family during their extensive travels in India. Accordingly, we created a set that took cues from the arches and intricate Mughal motifs. The venue was adorned with an abundance of flowers and traditional diyas, setting a regal ambience. The upholstery featured opulent velvet with exquisite embroidery. The overall decor exuded grandeur, combining rich fragrances, the warm glow of diyas, and a grand set that paid homage to the splendour of Mughal architecture.”

Wedding
Taking a cue from Jaipur aka ‘The Pink City’, the wedding flaunted shades of pink. Kinjal shares, “Inspired by the city of Jaipur, we crafted a mandap in a unique shade of pink, an unconventional choice for such a setting. The mandap’s design struck a balance between tradition and contemporary aesthetics, with a traditional yet modern silhouette. To enhance the grandeur, the mandap’s ceiling was adorned with a magnificent multi-tiered floral chandelier. It was built on a three-tiered platform, creating a striking elevation against the backdrop of the venue.”

To accentuate the beauty of the mandap, several design elements were added for visual interest as Kinjal shares, “For the chandelier, we used vibrant pink kaner flowers, while the pillars were adorned with acrylic Mughal motifs that beautifully reflected the evening light. To add an extra touch of elegance, the four corners of the mandap were adorned with brass elements and exquisite floral arrangements made from rajnigandha flowers, infusing the entire mandap with a delightful fragrance.”
