We are excited to announce the extremely talented jury for WeddingSutra Photography Awards 2022, one of the world’s leading wedding photography competitions. The submissions will open on July 20, 2022, at www.wsengage.com/wpa

WeddingSutra Photography Awards 2022

WeddingSutra.com, India’s No. 1 Bridal Media Brand launched WeddingSutra Photography Awards in 2017 to inspire and honor the best in wedding photography and filmmaking across the globe. WeddingSutra.com has been shaping the wedding industry for over 20 years and has shined the spotlight on wedding photography for decades making it a covetable profession. The award gives vast exposure, visibility, and opportunity to wedding photographers and filmmakers across the country.

Wedding Photographers and Filmmakers can submit their entries in the following categories:

1. Wedding Filmmaker of the year The nomination includes a short film no longer than 10 minutes taken at one wedding.
2. Wedding Photographer of the year The nomination includes a series of up to 15 photos taken at one wedding.
3. Pre-wedding Photography This category includes images from engagements and pre-wedding shoots done not on the day of the wedding.
4. Pre-wedding Films The nomination includes a short film no longer than 10 minutes shot after the engagement to tell the story of the couple’s love.
5. Bride Solo Portraits and candid photos of the bride.
6. Groom Solo Portraits and candid photos of the groom.
7. Couple Portraits/Candids Portraits and candid photos of the bride and groom together.
8. Friends and Family Portraits and candid photos of the bridal party i.e., bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents, siblings and other family members.
9. Getting Ready Portraits and candid photos as the bride and groom get ready for the ceremony.
10. On the Dance Floor All about the moments captured on the dance floor at sangeet, mehendi, baraat or any other groovy moments from the celebration.
11. Wedding Ceremony Creative shots from various wedding ceremonies.
12. Wedding Details From the rings and mehndi to décor, mandap, cake, and table settings there are endless elements of a wedding in detail.
13. Wow Location Photos that showcase the awe-inspiring location/ venue/ destination of the wedding.
14. Editorial/Commercial Wedding Photography Photos from editorial shoots for catalog/ magazines/ campaigns.
15. Black and White Wedding photos that play with the dynamic relationship between light, dark and all the tones in between.
16. Aerial Aerial wedding/ pre-wedding photos taken using drones, fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, balloons, blimps, rockets, rooftops, ladders, and parachutes.
17. Kids The smallest wedding guests can make for endearing wedding images.

Visual and Emotional impact, composition, image design, and technical ability are the key parameters for judging across all categories of the Awards. Experts with a background in photography, design, and filmmaking will come together to decide the best images and films entered into the WeddingSutra Photography Awards.

Amrit Grewal – Amrit Photography

Amrit Photography specializes in documenting weddings and crafting meaningful images that balance the curated with the raw – the composed with the real. Inspired by fashion and challenging the status quo, Amrit Photography travels to some of the most beautiful locations to tell the story of modern day romantics. The memories are preserved in images that are elegant and timeless with an editorial flair. Based in Vancouver, Canada and available worldwide.

Ana Marina Sanz – AMS Love In Video

Ana Marina takes an intimate and personal approach to wedding day videography, focusing on capturing the individual personality of each couple. She loves to capture the fun side of a wedding day, combining the laughter and happiness with plenty of uplifting music. Her dynamic style is what’s built her reputation for creating individual films for her international clientele.

Hendra Lesmana – Cheese N Click Photography

To Hendra Lesmana of Cheese N Click Photography, the love story of two people is a tale that must be immortalised with creativity. The self-professed visual learner, who hails from Indonesia, firmly believes that each couple deserves a style as unique as their own love story. His creative and distinct photography style has won him numerous awards and recognitions across the world. Hendra shares, “Being a photographer made my life even more meaningful not only for me and my family but also for others, especially the groom and the bride that have trusted me to capture their one and only moment in life, and to me this is a fantastic feeling and very challenging.”

Jacqui Cole

Named top photographer in the world by @harpersbazaarus & @brides
Jacqui has been shooting weddings for over a decade since moving to the US in 2010 with her business taking her all over the world shooting beautiful fine-art weddings. Her photographic style combines an editorial edge with fine art principles. She seeks to document weddings with her clients’ vision in mind and to capture honest moments with a palpable, soft beauty. She and her team strive to not only be their clients’ photographers, but also their guides throughout the day to ensure they can relax and enjoy their celebrations. Ultimately, her mission is to provide excellence to her clients in both their imagery and experience.

Jorge Romero

A destination wedding photographer from Guadalajara Mexico, Jorge has won many awards for his distinct aesthetic style and edgy compositions. He loves to capture the undeniable connection between the couple and loves the challenge of shooting in new places. His pictures have a strong sense of adventure, a distinct aesthetic, a sensitive awareness to light, and a dramatic feel to them.

KT Merry

A tenacious visionary with big ideas, KT is a passionate artist and conservationist who truly loves her work. Merry started shooting weddings in 2011 and since then has shot exclusive celebrity weddings, editorials, and bridal campaigns across the globe for designers like Monique Lhuillier.
Drawing on her decade of experience in fashion and editorial photography, KT’s known for natural, ethereal, painterly portraits and captured fleeting moments that seem to freeze both time and emotion. Working alongside her husband and business partner, Chad, and a small team of dedicated professionals, Merry focusses on seamlessly executing your vision while you stay fully present in the moment throughout the celebrations. She runs in every city she visits and has never met a dog she didn’t like.

Matthew Sowa – Matthew Sowa Photography

Born in Poland, Matthew Sowa earned a degree in photography from the primary Warsaw College of Photography and has received additional training and study at the Institute of Art Photography in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Matthew has been based in Manhattan for over a decade covering more than 800 weddings. His documentary approach is balanced by contemporary portraits created in dramatic style. He infuses his work with enthusiasm, spontaneity, and a fresh, original eye. His passion and unique perspective are reflected in intense and straightforward compositions, often in black & white form, leaving nothing distractive between the content and the viewer.

Nicholas Purcell – Nicholas Purcell Studio

Nicholas has been a professional photographer for 15 years. He splits his time between Adelaide and Paris and his work has appeared in the Harper’s Bazaar UK, New York Times, Style Me Pretty and brides.com. In 2015 Style Me Pretty interviewed him and in 2016 Complete Wedding Magazine called him “One of the World’s Best Wedding Photographers”.

Valter Antunes – Fotolux

Valter Antunes is one of the most awarded wedding photographers in Europe. In 2012, together with his wife Paula Antunes, he founded the “Fotolux Wedding Photography”. Since then, he has been documenting weddings in Portugal and overseas. He has his own distinct style, where he combines artistic with candid and documentary photography.
Valter says, “Where do we find longing, happiness, love, anxiety, and nervousness all in the same day? And the tears and smile at the same moment? For us, emotions are the basis of photography and there is no other area that fulfils us as much as wedding photography.”

Vanessa da Silva and Ivo Silva – Vanessa and Ivo

“Vanessa & Ivo have been creating “handmade” films, for couples that value unique and timeless movies, since 2012. With backgrounds in Media, Theatre and Film, they input their vision in each film they create, and it’s this balance that makes their films so special. Dedicated mostly to Destination Weddings, they travel the world searching for the unique way to tell the story for every couple. Vanessa & Ivo try to imprint in each film the essence of each couple and each wedding, aiming for intimacy, romance, and elegance, with a splash of creativity and with very personal insight, hoping to create pieces that stay relevant in the future.

Shortlist announced: 15th September 2022
Winners will be announced at the WeddingSutra Photography Awards Gala in Mumbai.
