Flipping the conventional perspective on bad omens, this innovative conceptual wedding pushes the envelope with its bold approach

The brighter side can peek through even when the clouds of negativity are dark. You just need to have the vision for it. At WeddingSutra Favorite – A Panache Affair, Shveta Dhilon was moved by this very idea as she orchestrated this conceptual wedding with a unique approach in California.

Driving her vision was Shveta’s reflection on life and how she has repeatedly tackled challenges to reach her spot of happiness. She says, “We approached the shoot from two angles: ‘The Bad Omen?’ exploring traditionally negative omens, and ‘Bold and Beautiful or Daring to be Different’, a more unconventional perspective. I came up with this idea around six years ago inspired by the hurdles I had faced in my journey. Life had not been a cakewalk as I’d married outside my caste and fought my way ahead for love. For years, I sat on the fence about this idea. However, even the most unexpected negative circumstances can inspire you to chase your dreams. For me, the turning point was when my father passed away. He was my cheerleader and with his passing, he left me with a sense of courage.”

She adds, “For me, this shoot showcases the beauty of anything negative, it celebrates the spirit of courage which spurs you to take a stand for happiness. As an individual who has extensively worked in the Indian wedding industry, I’ve heard all about bad omens and unfounded superstitions. The colours one shouldn’t wear, no female priests or how a light mehndi can affect the marriage! With this shoot, I wanted to embrace the negatives turnaround the perspective. Consequently, one can see that beauty can be found everywhere even where you least expect it.”

Black furnishings paired with auspicious red hues made a beautiful contrasting color palette. The mandap inspired by the rich foliage that surrounded it flaunted red-hued trees and took a step away from the usual four-pillared mandap. The bride and groom stood out amidst the deep hues in their ivory wedding attire.
