‘Gloss’: Indian Cocktail collection by Manish Malhotra at Grand Finale of Lakmé Fashion Week
Clearly Manish Malhotra thinks grey is the color of the season. As soon as we entered the Ballroom of Palladium Hotel, the venue of the grand finale, event stylist Gurleen M Puri who our team accompanied fell in love with the way grey was used on the walls for show. There were tones of grey throughout the collection but at the end of show, there was a standing ovation as Kareena Kapoor Khan walked the ramp for Manish Malhotra in a grey ensemble with tie-n-dye in shades of red wine and mirror work.
The collection was curated for occasions where brides can experiment and have fun with their outfits, be it at the engagement, cocktail, sangeet or even to take along as part of their wedding trousseau. High on gloss, shimmer and mirror work, this season Manish Malhotra celebrates weddings and winter festivities in India with inspiration from the fashionable young woman who loves the glamour in the play of light and fabric.
In line with the international trend of gloss, gleam and shine, the contemporary mirror work and textured shimmer in the collection doesn’t just dazzle, it reflects the euphoria and radiance of a woman on the brink of a dream come true. From the color palette to the embroidery, fabric and silhouette, the contemporary expression of style can be found in every detail. Colors of wine, burgundy, grey and silver in specially treated textured silks and velvet, or in flowy chiffon and soft nets, allow for transluscence and shimmer to flow into the effortless silhouettes adding that ultra-feminine touch.
After the show Manish Malhotra, spoke about his collection for Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/ Festive 2014, “It was great working with Gloss as a muse. As always, Lakmé is back with a beauty trend that is sure to become a game changer in beauty and I am glad to be a part of this global phenomenon, especially as a part of the very first Lakmé Bridal Dream Team. My new collection marries the concept of high-gloss with contemporary mirror-work, bringing alive GLOSS in a form which every neo-bride is wanting to explore.”
