Sustainable and stunning, this couple’s destination wedding in Ras al Khaimah was the perfect combination of whimsy, glamor and romance
Wedding Planning - Aug 5, 2022
Punctuated by the gentle sounds of the sea, its salty breeze and lots of fun, Kanika Patawari and Pavan Sampath’s March wedding in Ras al Khaimah, UAE, resembled a colorful fairytale. Aptly capturing the flavor of an Indian wedding with dashes of modern elements, WeddingSutra Favorite – FB Celebrations aced in every aspect as they planned and decorated this wedding. Capturing the couple and their families’ adorable moments was WeddingSutra Favorite – House On the Clouds.
Giving us an overview of the celebrations and how they orchestrated the extravagant yet eco-conscious wedding Bhavnesh Sawhney from FB Celebrations shares, “The core vision of the wedding was to make it an environmentally conscious wedding. We literally calculated the carbon emissions of the entire event and ensured the plastic use was minimal. Every detail, from the production to the decor was looked into carefully to find sustainable alternatives. So much so that, the entire wedding had a complete check of its carbon footprint to make sure the process and the requirements do not hamper our vision for the wedding, and we managed to stick to the best, most environmentally conscious procedures all through the event.”
A high-profile wedding like this one comes with its own set of challenges. But the expert planning team took it in its stride and rose to the occasion. Farid Khan from FB Celebrations shares, “One of our biggest challenges here, which I admit was an exceptional one, was to make sure we go beyond our 100% to offer the best of hospitality and security to His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr al Qassimi , ruler of the Emirate Ras Al Khaimah who was a special guest at the wedding.
Kickstarting the festivities was a rousing welcome party that was livened up by a band specially called from London. The guests enjoyed their first event by the sea and mingled with each other seamlessly. Next in line was a cocktail party which was filled with romance and glamor with its candlelight, roses and plush velvet seats. Instrumental jazz music filled the air with its smooth notes while the couple had a gala time partying the night away under the dark sky.
A breezy pool party followed the first two glamorous events. Decorated in hues of orange and yellow, this event was a fitting tribute to its surroundings that were bathed in the March sunlight. The event was also equipped with a variety of games and a live band performance that left the guests energized.
An Indian wedding is never complete without a Bollywood-inspired Sangeet event! To ensure that everyone shook a leg to their favorite tracks, Kanika and Pavan along with the planning team orchestrated a glitzy Sangeet night that blew everyone’s mind! Furnished with a colossal stage that was swathed in metallic silver and black hues, the stage was larger-than-life with its grandeur. Adding drama to the setup were small twinkling lights that resembled a starlit sky.
For the big day, no effort was spared! Bhavnesh shares, “The final day saw our take on the beach Wedding with a minimal yet breath-taking play of classic florals to compliment the occasion where the festivities were aptly concluded by the magical performance of the one and only Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
Overall, The wedding was generous in its hospitality – apart from including the usual ancillary services like hair, makeup, draping, ironing, etc, it also offered masseuse, shoe polishing, and a specially curated gentlemen’s salon. Nothing was spared in making the guests feel completely at home.”
