This couple exchanged rings mid-air at their larger-than-life Bollywood-inspired Engagement and Sangeet event!
Wedding Planning - Sep 13, 2022
Filmy at heart with a penchant for all things grand, Vidhita Ajmera and Rishil Shah’s Sangeet and Engagement event took the cake with its sheer opulence, innovation and customized elements. Conceptualized and executed by WeddingSutra Favorite – Zest Events this event was a spectacular gala that every guest thoroughly enjoyed. Capturing the couple’s happy moments was WeddingSutra Favorite – Seventy By Two who gave the couple a treasure trove of memories.
Describing precisely what the couple was looking for at their events and the brief they received, Aakash Doshi from Zest Events shares, “Our filmy couple, Vidhita and Rishil wanted a larger-than-life event to kick off the wedding festivities in full swing. For us, their wish was our command! Having planned and executed many events for the family in the past, we wanted to give them something that would firmly imprint itself on their memory.” He adds, “To match their personalities, we decided to host their pre-wedding celebration at ND’s Film World in Karjat which is conveniently a few hours away from Mumbai and took over the ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ set constructed within the venue. With their penchant for grandeur in mind, we designed an extravagant celebration that used the authentic elements present at the venue. Additionally, we added our own touches to it so that the entire family was treated to a Bollywood -style spectacle!”
The entire event was executed at the same venue. While the Engagement took place inside the palace, the Sangeet was executed outdoors with the palace as the breathtaking backdrop. There were experience zones designed for crowd control and to maintain COVID safety protocols. Both these experience zones were built next to the in-house pool sides and followed distinct themes like the enchanted forest theme and Arabic Middle Eastern theme. At both these spots, high tea was served separately to prevent overcrowding. Sharing an in-depth overview of the decor of the two functions and the concept behind it, Aakash shares, “The Engagement was hosted indoors where the decor was kept minimal with floating chandeliers lighting up the venue. This in turn ensured that all eyes were on the couple as they exchanged rings mid-air. The festivities of the Engagement began with the ring exchange and the lights were dimmed down to create a mysterious ambience. Initially, the couple stepped down from the grand staircase and were then taken through a swing where they floated in mid-air. While in the background we had dozens of huge, motorized chandeliers that were lifted up while the swing came down and vice versa! Plus, a specially made portrait of the couple flanked the stage too. As they stepped off the swing once it was down, the guest greeted them with cheers as they had just experienced a unique ring exchange ceremony!”
The impressive ring ceremony was followed by an extravagant outdoor Sangeet that appeared right out of a Bollywood movie, where the set was created with a bunch of florals and fairy lights for the entry arch. The entire palace was lit up with heavy lighting and sound to amplify the filmy vibes! The decor also played a major part to compliment the ‘Bollywood’ theme, along with guests who enthusiastically dressed up as iconic movie characters.
Aakash shares, “We literally brought Bollywood to life as we had celebrity doubles like Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan to entertain and interact with the guests. For guest entertainment we also had an Illusionist playing his tricks on the audiences’ minds and leaving them amused. Another guest favorite was a 360-degree photo booth to capture memories along with a Nitrogen Bar to keep the guests well entertained.” And it didn’t just stop here! Aakash adds, “The Sangeet celebrated an IIFA awards ceremony theme. From changing backdrops and outfits to 3D dance performances, the entire event looked straight out of a Karan Johar movie! Between a few performances, we had the anchor handing over people awards to build up the excitement. Not to mention, the weather was on our side with the beautiful December winter rendering the evening perfect to host the entire Sangeet outdoors under the scintillating sky. To keep the grandeur levels high, the palace was kept as a backdrop for all performances. We created a larger-than-life staircase from the terrace of the palace to the stage that served as the perfect entry point for the couple. Over 150 background dancers and a 120 by 42 feet stage made this the perfect Bollywood sangeet.”
