The day, filled with insights and inspiration about the Indian Wedding industry, unfolded in the modern and spacious The Mayfair Banquets, in Worli, Mumbai.
This luxurious Wedding Engage on Networking, Destination & Resorts Showcase & Thought Leadership had participation from 4 stunning and award-winning InterContinental Resorts – InterContinental Fujairah Resort, UAE; InterContinental Hua Hin Resort, Thailand;InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Resort, Thailand and InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort, India and culminated with the attendance of a few of the India’s celebrated Fashion & Wedding Designers such as Neeta Lulla (Neeta Lulla Collection), Farah Khan Ali(Farah Khan Fine Jewellery), Zeba Kohli (Fantasy Chocolates & Social Influencer) & Arjun Khanna (Arjun Khanna Design).
Top professionals from the luxury wedding industry were brought together to share a platform with InterContinental properties to participate in panel discussions and sessions that presented informative insights on the Indian Luxury Wedding Market.
Participating InterContinental Resort Representatives included Jocelyn Whiteside (Director of Sales & Marketing, InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam), Rajesh Selvam (Conference & Events Manager, InterContinental Fujairah Resort), Khun Ussa (Director of Sales & Marketing, InterContinental Hua Hin & Holiday Inn Hua Hin), Vijai Singh (General Manager, InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort) and Ishani Wasan (Head – Commercial Marketing, South West Asia at InterContinental Hotels Group).
Co-founder and CEO of WeddingSutra, Parthip Thyagarajan & Vijai Singh, General Manager of InterContinental Chennai helmed the event beginning with their welcome address and opening remarks followed by Parthip Thyagarajan playing the role of moderator for all the discussions thereafter.
The first panel discussion was titled ‘The World of Billionaire Weddings’ and it explored the mega-budget Indian Weddings & Social Celebrations. The panelists included Farid Khan of Wedniksha, Aarti Manocha of Milestones to Memories and Dhaval Chandarana of WED Gurus who informed and inspired participating InterContinental properties with their insights on the big B-Club of Indian Luxury Weddings.

A presentation by Vijai Singh, General Manager – InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort followed introducing attendees to the beautiful Mahabalipuram property & the InterContinental Group which gave us a peek into the luxurious services offered by this Destination Resort.
Successful entrepreneurs know how to follow the most significant inclinations of their industry at a particular time not only to enhance the scope of their businesses but also to create new waves in their field.
And so, the second session titled ‘Trend Spotting at Indian Weddings’ was all about that and more. A series of future-forward presentations were made by 5 young wedding entrepreneurs from the worlds of photography & films, décor & designs, food & beverages and wedding accessories. These included Rishi Rochlani and Yamini Shah of The Wedding Designers, Shrey Bhagat and Rajesh Satankar of Knotting Bells, Itchha Talreja of Itchha Talreja Designs, Neha Wadhawan and Jinal Patel of The Doli Diary and Pranav Thakkar of The Wedding Bartenders. Given that the wedding industry transforms and evolves so quickly every year, the session was the perfect pulse-check on trends on their way in and out.

Jocelyn Whiteside, Director of Sales & Marketing, InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam then presented the luxurious and beautiful InterContinental Samui, an outstanding Resort with pleasing aesthetics paired with warm hospitality.
The presentation was the perfect segue to a focus on the finest destinations the world has to offer. The next panel discussion explored the route of extravagance and opulence that South East Asia boasts of. The panel discussion titled ‘Destination South East Asia’ comprised leading wedding planners such as Aarti Mattoo of Momentum Group, Kunal Avanti of Magnanimous Group, Neha Mehrotra of Foreign Wedding Planners, Vikram Mehta of Mpire Weddings, Birju Gariba of Platinum Group, Nemish Sanghvi of WE Hospitality and Shankar Ganesh of Ahan Destination Management.

A presentation by Khun Ussa (Director of Sales & Marketing, InterContinental Hua Hin Resort & Holiday Inn Hua Hin ) and Rajesh Selvam (Conference & Events Manager, InterContinental Fujairah Resort) helped guests understand the group’s vision and philosophy of true hospitality and revealed how this is rendered across the two luxurious properties.
The last panel discussion titled ‘Destination Middle East’ witnessed top wedding planners as panelists. Neha Seth Arora of Var Vadhu, Rohit Jadhav of Milestones to Memories, Hemant Kale of Swaaha Wedding Management Co., Ashish Bohra of Perfexion Events and Kunal Rai of Tamarind Global had interesting exchanges courtesy questions about ‘Destination Middle East’ – the challenges, the pros, the cons, why the Middle East and all that it has to offer for an elaborate wedding celebration.

This Thought Leadership ended with a Q&A between the who’s who of India’s Luxury Wedding Fraternity and participating InterContinental Hotels & Resorts teams. The opportunity presented a chance to interact and gain deeper insights into the Billion dollar Wedding business, form lasting friendships and network with industry trendsetters.
