Love Actually- Preetika and Kartik’s Platinum Day of Love

Our new initiative ‘Love Actually’ is a photo series featuring couples who actively seek ideas and inspiration from WeddingSutra. The series celebrates beautiful people in love as they start their lives together. Because real love can only begin, never end. Over coffee, a makeover and a photo shoot we get couples to tell us how they met, show us their platinum love bands and talk about their day of love. Here, Delhi based Preetika and Kartik, both Advertising Professionals tell us how they met and share the beautiful moments from their photo shoot.

Preetika and Kartik are alumni of the same Business School. Kartik was three years her senior, so they didn’t study there at the same time, but the first time he saw her was at an Alumni meet. “She caught my attention at the meet, unfortunately I wasn’t introduced to her there. But destiny has its own plans. Sometime later, I informed a common friend Prachi that our agency was looking to recruit. Prachi was in touch with Preetika, and soon Preetika dropped in to our office for an informal interview– which is when I realised she is the ‘same’ girl.”

Preetika joined the same advertising agency where both she and Kartik continue to work, in different departments. “We got to know each other not because we’d interact at the workplace, but because we’d hang out together”, says Preetika. “After spending time with each other and friends we realised both of us have many common interests– we’d talk about travelling and the places we’d love to visit. Our other common interests included watching plays, just lazing around and shopping.” Kartik tells us how much he enjoys shopping with her. “Today, I can’t buy anything without her. And the best part is she feels I understand her tastes well, so I love shopping for her too.”

So when did they decide to get married? Says Preetika: “I am not sure how early we decided on getting married. But I guess we both always knew. My family definitely did – they adored him. Strangely, I was the one putting it off. All along, I had just one thing to tell Kartik, ‘next year!’ But once it all started, everything just fell into place, our families met and next thing we knew, we were engaged. There was no formal proposal – I’m glad! I like things casual, and so does Kartik. In fact, that was the inspiration of our Photoshoot too– casual! That is if you can call it an inspiration at all. Rishabh Agarwal, our photographer, figured that about us in our first meeting. He decoded us in a jiffy and that worked well for all three of us! The pictures are proof to that.” Says Kartik: “Rishabh would tell you that we were a difficult couple to work with, at first. But he spent hours just getting us ‘into the zone’ before he really set out to get the right shots. He’s a great guy, simple, talented yet very hard working!”
