Getting Ready
The moments of a bride getting ready are the ones where there is a beautiful blend of actions and emotions – from the bride or groom getting styled, ensemble and jewellery details, bridesmaids laughing all around, the brides’ mother in a reflective yet happy frame, the anxious groom, and much more… These shots are true candid photography highlights so make sure you plan for these in your album.

Wedding Outfits
You have spent a good amount of time selecting and customizing your wedding outfit, and be it a lehenga, gown or saree – it will be that one outfit that you will treasure for years to come. Ask your wedding photographer to capture this special outfit in unique and creative ways. You can also request for the groom’s outfit such as an ornate sherwani to be placed alongside your lehenga for some shots.

Bridal Portraits
Bridal portraits are the soul of a wedding album as they show a bride – resplendent in her wedding finery and animated with emotions – before actually tying the knot. These portraits, shot creatively in different locations, can be displayed at receptions, framed and given as gifts to loved ones, or simply treasured as a beautiful memory.

A traditional wedding lehenga – or an ornate white wedding gown – is usually a sartorial masterpiece and make sure you show off yours to perfection in shots that have you twirling the beautiful skirt and displaying all its stunning threadwork.

Completely Floored
Some lehengas are created with many ‘kalis’ with lots of tulle, and these make for a perfect picture when spread all around as you do a seated pose. This allows a bride to stay center stage as the drama of the weaves, fabric, shine and workmanship are showcased resplendently around her.

Tangled Portraits
A flowing dupatta can be filmy yet fabulous to stage shots with – you can ask for frames where both of you are wrapped in one dupatta, or the bride holds aloft a breezy dupatta as the groom hugs her. Also worth exploring are shots where the bride’s face is framed with a wedding dupatta’s beautifully embroidered border which typically is very ornate and lustrous.

Dramatic Portraits
Bring all the drama and dazzle of the ramp and modelling with shots that will make you and your partner look as if you have walked out of a glamorous magazine. With a bit of practice, your wedding photographer will have you both posing as professionals.

Bridal Details
There are so many little nuances and elements that make a wedding special so tune into these intuitively – capture some unique detail of your jewellery, or an intricate henna pattern or even the adornment fixed in your hairstyle. That way, you can enjoy all those smaller moments and accents which will stay alive in your memory through your album.

Bride in Movement
The swish of a saree as a bride makes her way to the mandap, or the flutter of a veil as she heads for her beach wedding vows – pictures of the bride in motion have their own life and place in a bridal portrait collection. These lively shots convey all the energy of weddings beautifully.

Bride’s Shoes
Soulful soles – yes, that’s what your bridal heels can convey when captured artfully against dramatic backdrops. Paired against a lehenga or sherwani, or against an urban backdrop as they glitter in tandem with the night lights below make for endearing yet cool shots.

Groom’s Portraits
Shots of a groom getting ready can be as dramatic and evocative as a bride doing so. Since there won’t be makeup shots, tell the photographer to focus on expressions and exquisite details of a sherwani or tuxedo.

Pre-wedding Vows
This is one of the few personal moments of alone time you have to pen down your vows which you’ll be reading to your partner after tying the knot, specifically in a Christian wedding. Your wedding photographer should concentrate on the emotional essence of such an occasion.

Photos like the first look of the bride for her mother, the father walking down with the bride on the aisle, a fun dancing moment, traditional ceremonial photos, all are backed by emotions and are worth capturing.

Couple shots
Since you would both be tied up with the wedding ceremonies soon, make time for the photographer just before the pheras when your makeup is flawless, to capture some candid and posed couple frames.

An artistic angle of your bridesmaids when you were getting ready or while you are at the mandap gives you a perspective you weren’t able to see while at your ceremonies.

Wedding Cake
If you have ordered a magnificent, towering cake for your reception, make sure it is captured in its full glory before you start slicing into it. These days, you can match the theme and colours of your cake with the theme of your invitation at specialist bakeries and card companies, and if you do so, make sure you get both captured next to each other.

Drone shot
There is something amazing about drone shots that capture wedding shoots from high above, especially if the events are held in a magnificent venue such as a palace or sea-facing resort. It gives the whole album a larger-than-life perspective and the aerial shots add a cool mix to the usual close-up pictures and intimate frames.

Wide angle shots
If you have invested in a fancy or vibrant decor set-up for you wedding, ask your photographer if he can manage to capture the scale with a funky fish-eye lens or via a wide-angle shot. Many lensmen have creative options to capture panoramic shots so do explore those.
