Giving us an overview of the client’s vision and how her team at Atrezzo Decor went about orchestrating it, Taskeen Poonawalla shares, “The client was looking for a very vintage yet royal set-up. They were keen on this classic style with the luxurious texture of velvet thrown into the mix. We built up a couple of mood boards with different stages around the same concept.

It was a good planning experience as I was working with a local Vendor from Nagpur who managed to source almost every little detail we wanted to achieve. Multiple one-day trips and venue recce were made to ensure nothing was left behind in the overall decor plan within a month.”

For Taskeen and her team at Atrezzo Decor, client satisfaction is at the crux of her plan. And, in this case, the couple and their family were incredibly smooth to work with. Trusting her with the creative reins, the couple also went out of their way to celebrate Taskeen’s birthday while enjoying their union. Taskeen recollects, “The couple’s big day landed on my birthday and the couple went out of their way to cut a cake with me onstage. This was such a nice, selfless gesture! In terms of the design, we quickly understood their vibe and they also were very confident about our choices. Once the approval was given, we were also at complete liberty to tweak it from our creative perspective.”

Describing the elements they used to make the couple’s dream come true, Taskeen shares, “We were designing and planning the walima function and we brainstormed multiple ideas that could fit into the budget without a compromise. We used crystals, lights, chandeliers and a lot of flowers. After experimenting with many elements, we finally landed on a full floral cascading backdrop, which had a mix of rose gold acrylic mirrors, crystal doves, chandeliers and most importantly the stage base that we built up which was a huge platform of transparent flooring above a bed of flowers with pathways in all rose gold acrylic sheets which uplifted the look!

Pathways and passages were incorporated with different elements and umpteen usage of props as it was a massive space filling in many ballrooms. The idea of doing up the ceiling with mirrors and chandeliers was to give guests an ethereal feel. There were photo booths in every nook and elegant lounge niches were strategically placed in every corner of the ballroom. The guest list was more than 1,000 people. Needless to say, we had a vast area to design!”

Apart from designing and planning the flow of the celebration, Taskeen was also mindful of ensuring that the couple’s requests were adhered to. She goes on to say, “The main request from the groom amongst other little things was making a flower stage floor and mirror walkways. It was meticulous planning through a couple of months only for one function – Walima. The reason behind this was that it was an enormous Ballroom. So getting materials and transportation for last-minute logistics was quite a challenge. Since it was a gigantic space to cover we did fall short of props and installations. As destiny would have it, there was a decor exhibition in Delhi a few weeks prior and so we purchased so much more than we imagined! As a result, the event resembled something straight out of Pinterest!”
