The Story of a Bride with 9 Brothers will tug on your heartstrings

A wedding conjures up a spectrum of emotion but there, hidden behind a teasing smile, is the bittersweet joy and love of your favorite enemy, your sibling.
You can’t remember a time when they weren’t there and you weren’t sharing secrets or squabbling. They know you better than anyone from a lifetime of silly pranks, gossip sessions, ridiculous quarrels and telling on each other and both getting punished in tandem!
You will get older, your paths may diverge, but the bond between siblings is forged with steel. As you solemnize a new lifetime bond with your soulmate, your old partner-in-crime is dealing with a river of emotion.
Here Kirandeep, the bride, tells us about her bond with the 9 boys who she grew up with.
“I have 9 brothers. It was a joint family so though 8 are technically my cousins, they’re brothers to me. My parents raised me but my brothers shaped me into the tomboy I was and am today. All my childhood memories go back to playing cricket after school, countless rounds of hide and seek and the best of all, scaring the neighbors when the lights went out.
Some worried about me growing up amongst this band of boys but my parents weren’t stressed. I had their back for any girlfriend advice needed and my musketeers had mine. And haven’t we all covered up for the other after late night party scenes?
The unsaid rule of siblings is, ‘I’m always there’ and it made our bond deeper everyday.”

“Being the only sister in our close-knit family, we naturally share an unmatched bond. I wanted my brothers to be a part of every wedding ritual usually carried out by the bride’s sisters. To say that they were emotional and protective before and during the celebrations would be an understatement. Forget following me around while shopping, they didn’t even let me drive for the month before the wedding! During my mehndi, while I sat with my henna clad hands, I had one of them sitting right next to me and feeding me whatever I wished for! The list of such caring and emotional moments is endless. On the day of the wedding, each of them came by one by one just to hug me and express their love for me! It’s strange how the bride’s family goes through a ride of emotions during the nuptials. Though rest assured, beside all their emotions, just to make me feel better, my brothers did not lose out on any opportunity to tease me!”
“Bridesmaids generally help the bride with shoes, food, water, etc, but I had my squad to my rescue at all times! One memory that is etched in my mind forever is the dholi time when I saw them stand with tears running down their eyes. At that moment, it all clicked so suddenly! We realized how much we had grown up. One of them even came up to my husband and asked him to never say a ‘No’ to anything that I ask for!”
Wedding Planning with the Bros!
“I wouldn’t have enjoyed my wedding if it weren’t for my brothers, Period. I’ve always known, at my wedding, my brothers would play the front role in functions and rituals. They are my gang, my main men! I had duties assigned to all, and not even once did any one of them shy away from bridesmaid duties. They handled my bridezilla moments with such ease, just like they strived to make every moment of my life perfect. A life without them is a journey I’d never even want to imagine.”
