Sustainable and stunning, this couple’s pre-wedding cocktail party transported everyone to California with its Coachella-themed decor!

Glamorous, environmentally conscious and jam-packed with fun, Ishita and Siddharth’s cocktail party in their hometown of Panipat was a vision to behold. WeddingSutra Favorite – Mogra by Namita with their meticulous planning skills and oodles of fresh talent brought this vision to life.

Sharing the brief she received from the couple and her creative process as she went about planning the event, Namita Jain from Mogra by Namita shares, “Ishita and Siddharth were quite clear that they wanted something fun and fresh that exuded sunny California vibes to be focused around the bar since this was a pre-wedding cocktail party. The moment they suggested a California vibe, my mind instantly seized upon a Coachella theme! Having studied and lived in California, I tapped into my days in LA and thought of the most California thing to use for the theme, a Coachella party! But since we were hosting this in Panipat, it was essential that we give it a desi twist. To give this a dash of Indian culture, we included handwoven baskets at the entrance and the bar. However, it wasn’t all fun and games, as we strictly adhered to safety protocols, and I’m happy to say that we successfully created our own little oasis of safety even as guests used the sanitization stations at the entrance. From there on, everyone was relaxed and let their hair down to celebrate. Thankfully, due to our foresight, it was an absolutely COVID-free event!”

Swathed in tons of cane with earthy hues dominating the color palette with a touch of navy blue, the cocktail party was a sight to behold. A statement bar with handwoven basket lights was the central attraction while the surrounding dance floor had everyone swaying to jazzy tunes. Adding a dash of personalization to the picture were the cushions scattered on the lounges that were manufactured by the groom’s very own company!

Namita shares, “The groom’s family manufactures home furnishing items, and hence we specially designed cushions for this event. Once we shared the designs with Siddharth, he took over and personally looked into getting it manufactured at his workplace. With the family involved in these small design elements, the event truly felt more personalized. It was like a piece of their family heritage was included in the celebrations!” However, the team also faced a fair share of hiccups as they pulled off an unforgettable event. Namita recollects, “We did face many challenges due to COVID-19. The cases were on the rise and understandably, both the families were nervous about the same. Keeping this in mind, we stepped up the safety levels a notch higher and installed more sanitizing stations across the venue, and gently reminded the guests to remain safe.”

Today, sustainability is the need of the hour and there has been a slow yet steady change of perspectives where weddings are concerned. Acknowledging the impact of celebrations on our planet, the couple and planner Mogra by Namita, made the momentous decision to be environmentally conscious. Sharing how they made this feat possible, Namita tells us, “Everything at the event was recycled and we collaborated with an amazing team named ‘Concepts Green’ to make this happen. From glass bottles to waste food and flowers, everything was deposited into its specific recycling unit a day after the celebration. Hefty decor elements were a part of this process too, for example, the flex was given to an individual who needed a waterproof cover for their shed at home. Additionally, all the linens were carefully stored to be reused.”
