This couple’s intimate home-based engagement ceremony with its modern romantic boho theme was a picture-perfect affair

Ensconced in the warm and cozy surroundings of home, Mehal Kejriwal and Jophy Joseph’s roka ceremony was a treat for the eyes with its simplicity. Ambitious entrepreneurs by profession with Mehal helming a certified organic dairy brand named Happy Milk and Jophy who runs GreenPro, a leading manufacturer of agricultural films, this duo’s elegant celebrations were hosted in the to-be bride’s home in Bangalore due to the ongoing COVID -19 pandemic. However, that didn’t stop them and their loved ones from making the most of the joyful occasion!

Giving us a brief explanation of how their love story started Mehal says, “We first crossed paths in school around 10 years ago. Later in 12th grade, we started helping each other with assignments while we borrowed pens and started communicating with each other more frequently. After that, there was just no looking back as we both recognized the powerful almost magnetic attraction between us. In the second year of our relationship, we just instinctively knew that we were meant to be together till we grew old!”

Keeping the ongoing pandemic in mind and the safety of all their guests a priority, the duo chose to host the ceremony in the house’s lush, spacious backyard where they could let their creativity run free. Decorated by WeddingSutra Favorite – Wedlock Weddings by Vima, the decor was elegant with delicate pampas grass and ivory-hued furniture that contrasted stunningly with the deep green hue of the surroundings. Describing the occasion and the vision behind it Mehal shares, “For Jophy and me this was a dream come true as we have waited for years to officially belong to one another. We wanted the decor of the roka ceremony to exude warmth, love, and simplicity. The pampas grass set up just blended beautifully with the garden and we even ensured that the menu was a blend of our cultures, with appam and stew to jalebis being given equal importance. All in all, the theme turned out to be modern, romantic and yet bohemian for which we couldn’t have been happier!”

Organizing a celebration while the pandemic rages on is certainly not an easy feat. But with sheer determination, Mehal and Jophy found their silver lining and orchestrated an engagement that was replete with emotional as well as fun moments. Recollecting her favorite moments from the ceremony Mehal shares, “As the ceremony progressed, everyone was in a mood to party! I remember all of us being a bit tipsy as we sang and danced to old Hindi songs. My family members were at their playful best as they teased Jophy to pay up for the ‘roka muh dikhayi’! Both of our parents waltzed with each other which was also a tender and touching moment. However, the hug that we shared right after getting engaged still gives me goosebumps. It was a magical moment.”
