Zeel Mehta and Yashi Doshi’s Mumbai wedding by the sea was a vibrant celebration where the couple struck a fine balance between honouring their traditions and embracing contemporary styles. The union was planned by WeddingSutra Favorite – Auspicious Events & Entertainment who with their expertise accurately understood the couple’s aesthetic and gave them a dreamy wedding.
Wedding Planning
Zeel shares, “We were very sure that we wanted each event to stand out in itself so we paid close attention to not only the decor for each event but even to our clothes, right up to the hair and makeup that was finalized for each look.”
She goes on to add, “For our wedding, our wedding planners Auspicious Events & Entertainment were extremely pivotal as they completely understood our vision and amplified it with their creativity. They understood my concept and made sure it was brought to reality. At every step of the way, the planning team was there with us ensuring everything was in sync with our imagination.”
Wedding Functions
Mehendi
Zeel shares, “Often weddings are made to be all about the bride hence I had decided that I would try and do something special for my groom at each of our events. I tried to incorporate an element of surprise for him at every event – be it getting our wedding hashtag and the wedding date embroidered on my mehendi outfit to depicting our 12-year-long journey together through the mehendi on my palms!”
Haldi and Mandap Muhurat
Hosted separately, Zeel and Yash’s haldi were minimalistic all-yellow celebrations where their loved ones gathered around them and slathered them with turmeric. With Zeel’s haldi and mandap muhurat being hosted on the same day, the decor included fresh sunflowers and a rustic cane couch where the bride sat as her loved one showered her with blessings.
Cocktail
For the cocktail, a night of glamourous celebration was in order as the venue was decked up with hues of red and gold. Hosted indoors in one of the hotel’s spacious ballrooms, the guests had a gala time performing on the monochrome striped dancefloor while colourful lights created an energetic atmosphere. However, Zeel had a surprise up her sleeve for her to-be groom! “I got a song specially written and composed depicting our journey together to surprise Yash. In turn, he surprised me with a dance performance!”
Wedding and After Party
The wedding day kicked off on an energetic note with a sunlit baraat that was punctuated by the sounds of dhol. The groom arrived in a vintage car while the bride’s family greeted the groom’s entourage at the entrance. After exchanging vows and rings, the couple proceeded to the mandap for the Hindu wedding ceremony. Decorated with white blooms and green foliage, the seaside mandap with its majestic white pillars looked right at home in the outdoor settings. Keen on adding a personal touch, bride Zeel had customized the smallest elements to reflect their journey, “My kaleerein had elements that resonate closely to both of us, one of which being our school logo where our love story began; getting both our names embroidered on my wedding veil; and getting the words that my now husband has tattooed on his arm as the wordings on our varmala stage.”
After the wedding, the newlyweds moved indoors where they celebrated their first moments as a married couple dancing to their favorite tunes. LED signs, colourful lights and lip-smacking drinks had everyone partying till the wee hours!
