Wedding Planning - Nov 9, 2022
Flaunting a variety of hues, and a combination of interesting decor elements Charmi Ajmera, hailing from the Ajmera Group’s wedding to Brij Tanti who hails from the family that owns Suzlon, a renewable energy company was hosted at the majestic Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur. Decorated by WeddingSutra Favorite – Elusive Dreams by Pooja Doshi this wedding was a spectacular celebration steeped in Gujarati culture.
Sharing the brief she received from the couple Pooja Doshi from the decor team shares, “The couple wanted a fairytale wedding with their close friends and family. Hailing from Gujarati joint families, the wedding was actually a family affair where everyone had an equal say. Both families were incredibly supportive of the couple’s vision and wanted the union to look like a fairytale too!
After multiple brainstorming sessions and working on the mood board multiple times, the couple zeroed in on the themes. And, I’m proud to say that we were able to convert their dreams into reality!”
The celebrations began with a Ganesh Sthapana where the families prayed to Lord Ganesha to bless the union. Swathed in cheerful shades of yellow and warm pink, the decor shone brightly under the sunlit sky. Pichwai paintings, cane baskets and brass vases added elements of interest to the decor.
Next in line, to break the ice was a poolside welcome lunch where everyone basked under the Rajasthani sun and mingled freely with each other. Adorned with whimsical elements, like, butterflies crafted out of flowers, an adorable pink-hued swing and breezy multicoloured drapes – the event mimicked the colours of spring. And, a generous smattering of bright blue balanced out the aqua blue in the form of blue pottery vases, tiles and patterned lanterns balanced out the bright colour scheme. The event also doubled up as a mehndi celebration for the bride. Pooja shares, “For this event, the bride was keen on the ‘Garden of Love’ theme. Hence we kept the love butterflies and added pastel hues into the mix. The butterflies were also added to the table arrangements and the bridal swing, of course, also acted as a photo-op.”
The sundowner sangeet was next on the cards and it featured a mix of glamorous as well as whimsical decor elements. From acrylic chairs, crystal chandeliers, richly hued floral arrangements, and fairy lights to imitation doves – each element was carefully curated to look stunning under the starlit sky.
For the couple’s big day, no stone was left unturned as an extravagant setup was orchestrated for the couple. Swathed in rich red roses and flanked by peacocks crafted out of florals, the mandap looked straight out of a dream. Inside, its ceiling brimmed with garlands of white suspended florals while the lawns surrounding the mandap were furnished with comfy colour co-ordinated sofas. Interspersed with metallic gold elements, the wedding was the perfect fusion of glamour and romance.
