Lavish settings, aerial acts, multi-cuisine platter, livewire music and high-energy performances by artists & dancers, Nisarg Ramani’s Engagement was more lavish than many Big Fat Destination Weddings.

Nisarg, 25, son of Dubai-based Jewellery tycoon Ramesh Ramani got engaged to Nupur Sakaria at the Sheraton Hua Hin Resort and Spa in Hua Hin, Thailand. The three day celebrations were between 20 and 22nd December, and Dubai-based Wedding Planner Rimjhim Bhagchandani, conceptualised the wow themes, to give the 300 guests the most magnificent experience.

Father Ramesh Ramani’s brief to the Wedding Planner was simple: “This may be the Engagement, but we want the best. Don’t calculate anything so you’re not limited by a budget”. So Rimjhim flew in the best talent from India, Dubai and London, and with help from Thai hands, orchestrated the affair to remember.

Nisarg Ramani, the scion of BRR Jewellers, one of the leading jewellery houses in Dubai is getting engaged to Nupur Sakaria from the illustrious Sagar Gold & Bullion Jewellers family, Mumbai. The engagement celebrations are on 20th and 21st December at the Sheraton Resort and Spa, Hua Hin, Thailand. The invite is an air ticket and over 300 guests are flying in from all over the world. Seven exotic theme functions will be held over two days, featuring creative talent and inspiration from different countries- Thailand, Romania, Egypt, Dubai, India and UK. The event is being managed by Dubai’s well-known Wedding Planner Rimjhim Bhagchandani.

The grand wedding and reception is in Mumbai next year, after which there will be a spectacular post-wedding ceremony in Dubai. Watch this space for more!

Chiranjeevi’s son engaged to Apollo Hospitals Heiress

Actor Ram Charan Tej, son of Telugu super-star Chiranjeevi got engaged to Apollo Hospital heiress Upasna Kamineni at her sprawling farmhouse in Moinabad, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Over 2,000 guests were sent bar-coded invites, and the security was tight in view of the extraordinary amount of fanfare and curiosity among the public. But the families arranged for a ‘live webcast’ of the engagement, since they didn’t want to disappoint Ram Charan’s and Chiranjeevi’s fans.

Engagement Details

- ‘Temple Trees’ was the theme of the evening.
- Upasna wore a saree by Tarun Tahiliani and Ram Charan wore a Rajesh Pratap sherwani.
- The vegetarian spread included Continental starters and Rajasthani, Punjabi and Gujarati delicacies by Hyderabad’s well-known Gaurav Caterers.
- The non-vegetarian spread was by Mazharbhai of ‘Hyderabad House’ fame.
- Delhi-based event management firm Choices Entertainment managed the event, and they flew in floral/ decor specialists from Thailand.
- Post the engagement Charan and his best friends flew to Goa for a Bachelor party.
- The function was photographed by ace Mumbai/ Hyderabad based photographer Joseph Radhik who earlier shot Charan’s cousin actor Allu Arjun’s wedding.

Model Anjali Raut will be tying the knot with Akshaay Gill later this year. She tells us more: “Akshaay is from Chandigarh and has been working in Singapore since long. We met in Singapore around eight years ago, my dad who is with Air India was posted there and we were introduced through common friends.” Anjali who has been walking the ramp in Mumbai since few years, is excited about shifting base to Singapore. “I love the place, its very much like Mumbai and thanks to so many Indians there you don’t feel you’re living abroad.”

Anjali’s mother is Russian, and father a Maharashtrian, senior model Alesia Raut is her elder sister. Her winter wedding will be a Big Fat Punjabi Wedding in Chandigarh. “The wedding will be at the Gurudwara after which will be the fun festivities—singing, dancing and celebrations, I’m so looking forward to it.” And what does the pretty model, who has walked the ramp for so many designers plan to wear for her wedding. “For the Roka, my good friend Nishka Lulla helped me put together a beautiful green anarkali. And for the engagement, I wore an orange saree by her mother Neeta Lulla. Ever since I can remember I have wanted to wear a Neeta Lulla for my wedding—so for the wedding I will wear a creation by my favourite designer Neeta Lulla.”

The engagement in Chandigarh, Anjali wore a saree by Neeta Lulla accessorised with Jewellery from Silver Queen, Santacruz. With elder sister Alesia Raut and her son and best friend model Deepa Chari.

There’s much talk about this Bollywood connection. Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures has been seen with actress Vidya Balan on many occasions, but the couple have not spoken about their relationship. Now there’s speculation that 37 year old Siddharth and the talented actress may be getting engaged soon, though reliable sources tell us that news on the engagement is just a rumour.

If Siddharth marries Vidya, this will be his third marriage. Siddharth is often interviewed and seen on TV, but not much is known about his personal life. The good-looking and talented corporate head-honcho schooled at GD Somani Memorial school and lived next door at Jolly Maker Apartments in Cuffe Parade where his mother Salome Roy Kapur, a former Miss India ran a Western dance academy. Siddharth completed his graduation from Sydenham College, and MBA from Jamnalal Bajaj. He began his corporate career with Procter & Gamble, and then realised his passion lies in Marketing Films & Entertainment, so he quit P & G to join STAR TV after which he moved to UTV. Though Siddharth’s father an Army officer turned businessman, had no connection with films, all his other family members have a Bollywood association. His paternal grandfather was a Producer while his mother choreographed the dances for some of the biggest films in the 70s. Aditya Roy Kapur of Guzaarish and Action Replayy fame is his youngest brother and younger brother Kunal is active both in Theatre and Films.

Siddharth’s first wife was his childhood sweetheart and second wife who he separated from three years ago, was a Television producer. While there may be much speculation about this B-town couple, we guess the couple will tread cautiously and if and when the engagement and shaadi happens, it will be a quiet and low-key affair.

On Monday, Avantika and Imran will be at the Marriage Registrar’s office after which they are hosting a party at the Taj Land’s End. Brett, like Lara is also a cancer survivor, having successfully battled an advanced stage of prostate cancer. Fifteen years older to Lisa, the good-looking Brett is the father of three young adult children and also known as the generous dragon on CBCs hit business reality show- Dragon’s Den. The wealthy merchant banker slowed down his highly hectic lifestyle, to spend more time on his most passionate priorities: his family and friends, traveling the world with his children, and to support various support groups to help cancer patients.

Another glamorous couple is tying the knot. Big Boss actor Sameer Soni has announced that he will marry Neelam Kothari sometime in January or February. According to reports, this will be a low-key affair. This is the second marriage for the model turned actor, and the actress turned Jewellery Designer. Sameer was earlier married to Rajlaxmi Khanvilkar, and Neelam was married to a UK based businessman.

The stylish, stunning actress and the debonair tennis champion are marrying in the land of fun, sun and sands. Lara and Mahesh celebrate their union in Goa in February next year and a source informs us that over two hundred family members and friends are invited for what is expected to be a grand three day affair. Though the wedding program is not finalised, in all probability they will have a Church wedding (both Lara and Mahesh are Christians) with pre and post wedding celebrations at a beach-side luxury resort. The stylish couple are in talks with some of the most talented wedding planners to decide who can best execute their dream themes and ideas.

For long both Lara, 33 and Mahesh, 36 denied they were in a relationship and would state they are “just friends”. Their affair made news when newspapers reported Lara was supervising the renovation at Mahesh’s newly-rented apartment at Nibbana, the apartment complex in Pali Hill, Mumbai. The tennis star proposed to Lara a month ago, when they were both in New York. Mahesh popped the question over a candle lit dinner and he then slipped a ring that that he designed himself. They then formally announced their engagement on September 19th via twitter.

It’s the first wedding for Lara and a second wedding for Mahesh. Lara was living in with Bhutanese model Kalden (Kelly) Dorji for many years and Mahesh was earlier married to well-known model Shvetha Jaishankar who now lives with her parents in Chennai.

Aditya Shroff is marrying Megha Gupta on 10th December in Mumbai. The actress well-known for her role in the TV serial ‘Kavyanjali’ spoke to WeddingSutra. “I always dreamt of having a small wedding where me and my parents would be least hassled with the logistics and arrangements. But since we have so many friends in Mumbai we decided to go for a mix of a small and big wedding. We’re having a small temple wedding in the morning and a chilled-out evening celebration in South Mumbai, where all our friends can drink, dance and enjoy.” On wedding wear Megha states: “I’m a great fan of Falguni & Shane Peacock and their layered looks and colourful clothes, Manish Malhotra and Aki Narula are my two other favourite designers. I haven’t really finalised what I’ll wear for the two functions, but first I’ll visit Delhi and check the latest bridal creations there—after which I’ll decide what to buy where.”

Megha spent her childhood in Muscat where her parents were earlier based and after completing her graduation from Wilson college, Mumbai she began her career in Television acting. Aditya Shroff, 32 is involved in his family business, Fame Cinemas. He was earlier dating Sonakshi Sinha, 22. It is rumoured that the relationship didn’t work out, because Aditya was keen on marriage while Sonakshi wanted to concentrate on her film career for some years. Aditya met Megha through common friends a few months ago.

In our last post we said Timmy looks good in whatever he wears—we take back our words. For the Sangeet on 27th November, Esha glowed in a gold Neeta Lulla ensemble, but Timmy turned a bit too adventurous and wore a black sleeveless Nehru Jacket. Why sleeveless, we fail to understand! He didn’t look festive nor elegant— just stiff and staid! Timmy attempted to do a first time for the groom—in the pink pants, which he carried off well. Then he wore a heavily embroidered pink kurta, which also looked great. But he failed to impress in the ‘Groom in black’ look.

We loved Esha’s lehenga – but the long choli, we don’t get!
