Chetna and Neel Platinum love story

Chetna and Neel first crossed paths at a New Year’s Eve party. However as the night went on, both of them went their separate ways as they celebrated with their friends. Once Neel moved back to Mumbai, sparks flew as they were reintroduced by their mutual friend. The duo went out on their first date a few calls and texts later. And the rest, as they say, is history.
Based in the USA and in possession of a flourishing career in the fast-paced New York, Neel took the momentous decision to move back to India as he wanted to explore new opportunities and a change of scene after hustling alone for almost half a decade. Forgoing his hard-earned work visa and a high-paying, prestigious job, he made his way back to Mumbai where he met Chetna again. Chetna shares, “I have always had my sights set on studying for my Master’s at Columbia University and after months of hard work and numerous tests, I was accepted! But that also meant that I would be away from Neel and our relationship was still in its budding stages.” Understanding Chetna’s unsaid apprehensions and having unwavering faith in their love, Neel changed his plans around completely. Neel says, “I’ve always known about Chetna’s dream of pursuing a degree and settling down in the USA. So when we got the news that she’d been accepted, I understood her apprehensions. To me, her dream is our dream. I was sure that I wanted to be with her no matter where she went and team up with her to chase our collective dreams. I know she would do the same for me too!”
Chetna shares, “For Neel, applying for an American work visa again and finding a job during the first wave of the pandemic wasn’t easy. And, rather than take the easy way out and ask me to consider making my way back to India after the course, where Neel also had a flourishing family business as a backup, he put my dreams first. Not once did he ask me to modify them to his convenience. In fact, when we faced this uncertainty, he said, ‘No matter how many challenges lie ahead, we’ll face them together.’ And we did! I helped him look for other opportunities while the pandemic spread across the globe and as he attempted to contact his old workplace in NYC again. All in all, it was a huge leap of faith from Neel’s side!
And, once I began my course, he was my 3 AM friend, my city guide, my reassuring guardian when the academic stress overwhelmed me, and a shoulder to lean on as we built a life for ourselves in a strange city during an uncertain period away from friends and family.
Neel adds, “It was challenging to find my way back to New York as I had to start from scratch. The H-1B visa rules were tighter, we were in the midst of a pandemic and I had to rebuild everything that I’d left behind. Everything, thankfully, worked out for the best. Regardless, I would’ve found one way or another to be with Chetna.” Chetna says, “Tomorrow if Neel gets a great opportunity somewhere else in the world, I will not hesitate to make the move with him & support him in every possible way.”
Additionally, it was also Chetna’s dynamic personality that inspired Neel to go back to the States and prove his mettle. He says, “Chetna not only dreams but also etches out a clear way forward to achieve those dreams. After years of hustling, the burning ambition I’d felt at the start of my career had somehow ebbed down. But her enthusiasm and passion to reach her goals reignited the fire within me. As Chetna through her hard work realized her dream of getting admitted to Columbia University, I not only cheered her on but also rediscovered that part of me who would actively set goals and stop at nothing to achieve them. She was the one, who through her go-getter nature, spurred me to pull my socks up and get my head back into the game.”
Chetna and Neel are true equals who put their love first, possessing an unshakeable sense of faith in their love and promising to help each other chase their wildest dreams.
