Gazzal and Akhil’s Platinum Love Story

A love that always has your back can give you the strength to move mountains. Gazzal Bishnoi and Akhil Chaturvedi’s story is one of resilience and perseverance in the face of every challenge, rooted in the faith that their love is worth fighting for!
Both hailing from a Defence background, Gazzal and Akhil crossed paths many times growing up as they moved around the country with their families. Living in similar environments with many mutual friends and shared experiences, there was always a level of familiarity, but it wasn’t until after college in 2015 that they developed a strong, unwavering friendship that would lay the foundation for all that was to come. In the years that followed, Akhil moved to the US to pursue a Tech career, while Gazzal went to Oxford for her Master’s degree in Law before returning to India. Even though their career paths took them far across the world, they always turned to each other in the good times and the bad, no matter the distance.
Akhil shares, “I knew Gazzal was the one for me because just being with her made me happy. Not the fleeting joy of going on dates or doing activities together but rather true contentment from just knowing she is there with me through thick and thin. In the five years we dated before deciding to tie the knot, we lived on three different continents juggling very demanding careers, time differences, and busy schedules, and were often unable to meet for months at a time. Despite that, she was there for me every time I was dealing with something difficult or feeling low. When I was lost, she helped me find the way.”
He adds, “Most people hope to find someone who easily fits into their lives, but I’ve come to realize that happiness is in meeting someone who gives your life meaning and committing to love, even when things aren’t easy. Whether it was through the years we spent apart building our careers, or the incessant delays we faced due to the pandemic while planning our wedding, our bond never wavered. We knew that the end goal was being together for life, and every day brought us closer to it. Whether it was sharing details of our day, venting our frustrations, finding solutions to issues at work, or navigating travel restrictions, we never let the challenges of the outside world impact our relationship. Every time people questioned if all this effort was worth it, the answer was “yes”. None of it felt like a setback to me, and I would do it all again with Gazzal by my side.”
For Gazzal, it was Akhil’s kind heart and generosity of spirit that made her fall in love. She recalls, “There are a million moments over the years that strengthened our bond, but one defining experience was an office event with the most influential people in his company. While everyone else spent the evening networking with important people crucial to their success, I witnessed the regard and compassion Akhil showed to the exhausted staff working tirelessly. This is just one of the many values that capture his essence of life, which makes me love him and respect him immensely. He inspires me every day to not just strive for success, but also to be a better person.”
She continues, “Since I had left my job with the plan to move to the US after our wedding, the Pandemic derailed not just my personal but also my professional life. I felt untethered for a while, unsure of which way to move. Although he couldn’t comfort me in person, Akhil stepped in and pulled me back on track. At the bleakest of times, he reminded me that we had been working towards being together for years, and it was bound to manifest sooner or later. His love and motivation renewed my spirit as I dusted myself off and got another job, which co-incidentally laid the path that eventually got me to the US and him. Sure there were some more roadblocks along the way, but they seemed like mere blimps in the face of the constant support that was Akhil. It was a long time coming, but the journey to being together taught us valuable lessons about love and patience that will guide us for the rest of our relationship.”
