Love Actually- Bina Jhaveri and Avinash Poorswani’s Platinum Day of Love

Our new initiative- ‘Love Actually’ is a photo series featuring engaged couples who actively seek ideas and inspiration from WeddingSutra. The series celebrates beautiful people in love as they start their lives together. Because real love can only begin, never end. Over coffee, a makeover and a photo shoot we get to-be-weds to tell us how they met, show us their platinum love bands and talk about their day of love.

Dynamic Entrepreneurs Bina, a Life Coach and Avinash, a Jewellery Designer and Businessman got to know each other when Bina started visiting his Jewellery Studio in Breach Candy, South Mumbai. She visited the Studio many times over several months, each time they would see each other and not speak, but one day they decided to break the ice. Bina recalls: “He was very cordial and after we talked a little, he figured I don’t know too many people in the city (I had lived in the US most of my life and had relocated to Mumbai). If anyone knows Avinash they will realize he is the most helpful person around, especially with connecting people. So he asked me to join him and his friends so I could meet some nice people. Over time me and Avinash became friends. Gradually, we became best friends, and could not do without talking or meeting each other. The days became moments and the moments became beautiful memories, which led up to years of great and growing friendship culminating into romance and love.”

Avinash proposed to Bina on a quaint island in Krabi, Thailand in June 2013. Says Bina: ‘It was the last day of our holiday in Krabi and Avinash’s original plan was to propose in the middle of the ocean and find a shell in the water and ask me to open it, in which I was supposed to find the ring! However, the weather failed us, it rained and was hazy, and the boats were not going out to the islands. So he thought quick and took the help of two amazing God-sent souls we met in Krabi, Andy & Jen. He took all of us on a jungle safari instead. We set out early morning and got on elephants and began our safari under the rainfall. Not only was it romantic, it was adventurous and for two seconds I didn’t know where I was!!! As I was looking out, Avinash got down on one knee on top of the elephant and proposed. I was absolutely surprised and didn’t want that moment to end…ever. As he put the ring on my finger, he asked me to gaze out into the jungle and along with Andy and Jen were two mahouts each riding their own elephant and wearing customized t-shirts reading ‘Will You Marry Me?’ The proposal celebrations concluded with a beautiful hill-top dinner at the finest dine on the island. There, Avinash sealed the evening with the most-special touch. He asked the staff to bring two fortune cookies which read our new fortunes as One. In all, it was the most special day of my life, a proposal I could not imagine even in my wildest dreams, and the beginning of our new forever journey together! We are getting married in Mumbai in February; our wedding will be an intimate family and close friends affair at the courtyard of a hotel in South Mumbai which will be followed by an evening reception at a Banquet hall.”
