Temple Wedding for Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapur’s wedding celebrations started on December 11, 2012 with a very intimate sangeet at La Mode banquet hall in Juhu. It was a family-only affair and the only celebrity present was veteran actress Rekha who looked gorgeous in a green saree. Vidya wore a burgundy red Kanjeevaram saree and Siddharth wore a white embroidered kurta. Vidya’s cousins and Siddharth’s actor brothers Aditya and Kunal performed to hit songs; Vidya danced to her super-hit dance track ‘Ooh La La’ from ‘Dirty Picture’.

Vidya’s Mehendi, at her residence was also a very private affair. According to reports, the actress didn’t invite a professional Mehendi artist or Bollywood’s favorite artists like Veena Nagda or Usha Shah to do her mehendi. Friends of the bride had fun applying Mehendi on each others hands. Vidya looked very happy and relaxed and wore a saree, Bengali style by her favorite designer- Sabyasachi, accessorised with floral ornaments. Later, Vidya obliged the waiting cameramen by stepping out with her family members for a photo-op.

The very private couple have kept their celebration venues a secret. Earlier it was reported that the traditional nuptials will be held on December 14th, at Siddharth’s parents home in Jolly Maker Towers, Cuffe Parade. Now it is reported that the ceremony will be solemnized at the Subramania Samaj Temple in Chedha Nagar, Chembur. Coincidentally, December 14th also happens to be the wedding anniversary of Priya, Vidya’s older sister, an ex advertising executive who is married to Kedar, a Marketing Manager with Unilever India.

The venue for the post wedding Reception is also not confirmed, though speculation is rife that it is in Chennai.

Small Wedding & Sarees by Sabyasachi

Vidya and SRK (Siddharth Roy Kapur) have always kept mum on their relationship, they have not even been photographed together. And its no surprise that there’s no word from them on their wedding this month. So all that we can share is what we’ve heard from their friends.

This is probably the only picture where paparazzi managed to click the couple together on a holiday in Goa

“I have no clue mate, I have not been invited yet” says a friend of SRK who studied with him in Mumbai’s GD Somani School. “What I know is what I’ve read in the papers- that the intimate wedding will take place at his parents home in Jolly Maker Apartments.” We asked a friend of Vidya, who lives near her parents home in Chembur. “The papers report the Reception takes place in Chennai. I can’t understand why Vidya would host it there, maybe its just a rumor, or an attempt to keep the Mumbai venue a secret.” Her friend may be right, while SRK who was married earlier, may prefer a very small wedding, Vidya might want a grand yet elegant reception in Mumbai.

- The Punjabi-style sangeet (SRK is half Punjabi, half Jew) will be held on December 11. The Tamil wedding, in all probability an at home affair will be on December 14. The guest list for this function will be very small. SRK’s actress/ dancer mother Salome Roy Kapur, his father, brothers and sister, Vidya’s parents and her sister and brother-in-law Priya and Kedar Nene.

- For the reception, Vidya being a family-oriented person, only some big names from the industry will be invited, it will mainly be a celebration with family and friends.

- Sabysachi Mukherjee is designing 18 silk saris in warm colors, some of which will be worn for the different celebrations. The silk is being sourced from Tamil Nadu and adorned with exquisite handwork.

Vidya Balan became close to Siddharth Roy Kapur in 2010 during the shooting of the film, No One Killed Jessica, produced by UTV where we works as the CEO of the Films Division.

Are Sid and Vid getting engaged?

There’s much talk about this Bollywood connection. Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures has been seen with actress Vidya Balan on many occasions, but the couple have not spoken about their relationship. Now there’s speculation that 37 year old Siddharth and the talented actress may be getting engaged soon, though reliable sources tell us that news on the engagement is just a rumour.

If Siddharth marries Vidya, this will be his third marriage. Siddharth is often interviewed and seen on TV, but not much is known about his personal life. The good-looking and talented corporate head-honcho schooled at GD Somani Memorial school and lived next door at Jolly Maker Apartments in Cuffe Parade where his mother Salome Roy Kapur, a former Miss India ran a Western dance academy. Siddharth completed his graduation from Sydenham College, and MBA from Jamnalal Bajaj. He began his corporate career with Procter & Gamble, and then realised his passion lies in Marketing Films & Entertainment, so he quit P & G to join STAR TV after which he moved to UTV. Though Siddharth’s father an Army officer turned businessman, had no connection with films, all his other family members have a Bollywood association. His paternal grandfather was a Producer while his mother choreographed the dances for some of the biggest films in the 70s. Aditya Roy Kapur of Guzaarish and Action Replayy fame is his youngest brother and younger brother Kunal is active both in Theatre and Films.

Siddharth’s first wife was his childhood sweetheart and second wife who he separated from three years ago, was a Television producer. While there may be much speculation about this B-town couple, we guess the couple will tread cautiously and if and when the engagement and shaadi happens, it will be a quiet and low-key affair.
