Faking a trip to Spain, this guy nailed a surprise proposal by gatecrashing his girlfriend’s Malaysia trip

Nilesh had a gut feeling about Smiti when he first got friendly to her, and both had an intuition that they would marry each other. Eight years later, that gut instinct turned into a reality and the two got engaged in Goa. WeddingSutra Favorite – Sam and Ekta captured everything that went down at this function in beautiful and evocative frames.

Nilesh and Smiti are big Bollywood fans, and they met while performing for a charity dance show during their university days in London. They stayed friends for three years and started dating after that. After five years of being in a relationship, Nilesh, who was born and raised in Spain, proposed to Smiti, who was born and raised in Malaysia.

Nilesh recalls, “I remember around six to seven months into our friendship, I had a gut feeling, and I don’t know why, but I said that one day we’d surely end up married.”

Smiti adds, “He didn’t have feelings for me then and he didn’t want to be in a relationship either. But when he said that, I knew he wasn’t joking. I believe some part of him instinctively felt it.”

Remembering the cute way Nilesh proposed to her, Smiti shares, “Last December, he surprised me with a proposal in the middle of my favorite beach back home in Malaysia. We were going to be apart for Christmas and New Year’s Eve, in our respective homes, but as I was walking to the beach with my brother for a family Christmas dinner, I found Nilesh standing under a beautiful pergola of fairy lights that he had built. He had built. He had planned the whole thing for months with my family, and it was completely surreal. He managed to bluff me by showing me fake tickets to Spain and by putting up old pictures of Spain from his gallery on his Insta stories. I barely have an actual memory of any of it as I was in complete shock.”

While talking about their entire pre-wedding shoot experience, the couple shared that the team at Sam and Ekta were full of ideas which made the planning process was quite smooth. The whole shoot took place at Panna Meena Baori and Mundota Fort. Nilesh shares, “Our favorite part of the whole experience was getting to know Sam & Ekta, who are just really inspiring and incredibly fun people.” Seeing how beautiful all the pictures turned out to be, the duo picked them to cover their engagement and wedding as well. Smiti says, “Sam and Ekta guide you into the whole thing and make you feel soo much at ease. Their genuine approach to getting to know you and build a relationship makes not just the process, but the pictures they take better.

The pictures from the engagement function at The Leela, Goa, are a visual treat. The #KhattaMitta couple wore color-coordinated pink outfits. The bride matched her Anita Dongre ensemble with an elegant kundan set featuring green stones. The guests too followed the same color scheme. The bride’s makeup was fresh and dewy, and she completed her look by adding sprigs of baby’s breath to her low bun.

As soon as the couple started walking down the aisle, guests showered them with pink rose petals. The ceremony began with a pooja and ended with the couple exchanging rings and garlands. The bride’s father addressed the crowd by giving an impassioned speech while the bride’s mother graced the occasion with her elegant dance moves. Even the groom’s side didn’t hold back to raise a toast to the newly engaged couple. The couple sought the blessing of their friends and family on this auspicious occasion. The bride then gave a surprise dance performance, after which all the guests headed to the dance floor.

The couple will marry in February 2020 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Jaipur. Smiti says, “The wedding planning process has been both mad and amazing. I’ve been planning my wedding since I was about eight years old, and Nilesh is a very hands-on groom, so we’ve spent this whole year working with our wonderful planners, Panodrama Events and mapping out every single detail. It has been a super busy year with some stressful moments because we’re so set on our vision, but we are going to miss it when it’s all over. We are really excited for February and looking forward to seeing all of our favorite people come together.”
